Shower advice

Shower advice

My shower is next week, and because im a control freak... i was allowed to plan a small percentage of it, with my bridemaids handling the rest...

We are having a 'tea party: theme and I really wanted to get cute hats for all my guests to wear but thats too expensive. At this point, all of my bridesmaids are wearing hats and a few friends too.

However, I have a total of 60 ppl coming, 10 of which are bridesmaids and close friends. the others are family friends and their daughters. I was thinking of getting a bulk of straw hats and tying ribbon around them so that everyone could have a hat, or I would just give hats to the girls and give pearl-looking bead necklaces to the older women. I wanted to have some sort of dress up tea party theme but now im all over the place.

Does anybody have any other ideas??

Thanks

I personally do not like wearing hats, and would find straw hats to be uncomfortable and itchy. I'd stick to letting your guests dress how they want...especially b/c some of them might pay to have their hair blown out, or whatever, and then wouldn't want a hat on top. Then you'd just be out the money on the hats.

I'm undecided on the bead necklaces. I'd rather just have a cute favor than a necklace to go home with, I think.

do you work in NYC? They had a store on 31-32
6 ave/7ave called Webers that sells hats(church hats) for like $2

I do like the pearls idea.

I have to be honest. If I arrived at a shower and had to play 'dress up', I dont think i'd be too happy... Lets all face it, not everyone enjoys even being at these things and then you're going to ask them to play a role at the shower? Sorry, to be so direct, but we do have to remember that not everyone is as much into our wedding as we are

yeah i have to keep reminding myself that.

I think i'll just do the pearls. my MOH suggested I have a basket out with the pearls and hats and it can be optional, and whoever wants one will take one.

But i just dont know anymore, this shower stuff is alot of work!
