Shower and Wedding Invites...

Should guests receive the wedding invite before the shower invite?

Does it matter which are mailed first?

I know, in theory it sounds like a stupid question.

I think the shower invite should come first, BUT I think that having the wedding invitation come first lets all guests know who the bride and groom are. How many shower invitations have you gotten for girls who were marrying some guy you know and you have never met the girl? You get the shower invitation and wonder 'who's Jane Doe?' If you had received the wedding invite first, you would know that Jane Doe is marrying your cousin Joe Blow.

Sorry, I am rambling. I think wedding invites help some people if they come first

My wedding invites will go out first only because my shower won't be till a month before the wedding.
