Ok, tell me not to feel guilty. I think that my coworkers might be planning a bridal shower at work for me. I have only been at this job since March. My fi and I decided that to keep our list small I would only invite people from work who I was very close with ie socialize with after work. There is one person who I don't really like too much when I work with her but she is ok if we talk about non-work things. I think she is the one planning the shower and I did not invite her to the wedding. I only wound up inviting one person from work. Tell me I should not feel guilty about not inviting this person!!! If I invite her I feel like I have to then invite so many more people from work. Did anyone else not invite people from work but have them throw a shower for them?? Thanks

Re: Shower at work
My job sent us a beautiful Crystal decanter from Tiffany's. Enjoy it!!!
I didn't invite anyone from Work.
Matt's office also sent us a gift from Tiffany's and he didn't invite any of his co-workers.
SO no worries

Re: Shower at work
We have showers all the time at work and no one here expects to be invited. We just do it because luckily it's a great group of people and we want to do something nice in anticipation of their wedding. Unless you hang out with work people outside of work and are close to them, don't feel guilty about not inviting them and I'm sure it's understood they don't expect to be invited.

Re: Shower at work
I don't think u should feel guilty. You invited who you wanted and your other co-workers are just doing what all co-workers do. My co-workers told to expect one, even though I asked them not too. Nobody forces them to - just enjoy it, and send them all a nice email afterwards

Re: Shower at work
My bosses both cam to my bridal shower gave me beautiful gifts...Krups thermo coffee maker and set of Waterford flutes (I used at my wedding).
Then they planned a lunch in my name the week of my wedding and gave me a beautiful bed in the bag set that I wanted from Fortunoffs.
Just enjoy it!!

Re: Shower at work
I had a shower at work and only invited two people to the wedding (people I socialize with outside of the office). Don't feel guilty . . . I'm sure you would contribute if someone else had a shower there.

Re: Shower at work
I was in your exact position. My boss and three close co-workers threw us a couples shower at my bosses house. They sent out invitations, bought so much food and beer, and had a whole OCtoberfest thing. I felt so guilty b/c I am not inviting any of them. The shower was great...we had about 50 people show up and we got so many great gifts off our registry. But dont feel guilty. I realized that they did it for me because they wanted to and I appreciated that. I think I will give them each a favor from my wedding after the wedding as an additional thank you. I also bought them each a hostess gift the day of the party. Enjoy it!! No Guilt!

Re: Shower at work
Do not feel guilty. I think it's really nice that your co-workers want to do something nice for you. I had to switch jobs half way through my engagement, and consequently I only invited three co-workers to my wedding, and none of them were able to make it b/c they would have had to fly across the country (which requires taking extra time off and can be a financial burden). However, they still took me out to lunch before I left, and my friends from my previous job threw a bachelorette party for me.
Just enjoy your time in the spotlight, and graciously accept the compliments and gifts that are being showered upon you!
In 15-20 years, you'll be wishing that people threw showers for anniversaries b/c all your stuff will be worn, weathered and old! LOL!

Re: Shower at work
I work in a small department of a very large firm and I'm not inviting any of my coworkers to the wedding. I am very friendly with everyone in my department, but it would have added on an extra 34 people which is definately not in my budget. We have three girls, including myself which will all be married within 3 months and we all discussed it and are going to do the same thing so there are no hard feelings : ). We will be having bridal showers for everyone though because we love parties lol. So enjoy your party and don't feel guilty...people understand!!!
