1. When you are opening your gifts and you notice that there is just an envelope (with a gift card or a check in it).. what do you do? I mean, I wouldn't mention the amount so if it's a gift card I would say 'a gift card to BBB.. thank you!' What if someone gives you a personal check? My mom always gave checks at bridal showers but I don't remember what the bride does.
2. When 2 people give you the same gift (something you only wanted 1 of).. how do you act? Do you say.. aww ANOTHER toaster!!!!!!!!! I have no clue.

For the check I wouldn't say specifically 'oh a check' Probably something like 'Thank you, that is very generous.'
I would just act like you forgot you got the first one. The person who has the duplicate gift being opened second is going to feel awkward even if they were the one who purchased it first!!

I am not opening any 'just envelopes' at the shower in fear of it being misplaced.
I would act like I didn't receive the first one and just thank the person like normal

this happened to my friend, she got duplicate towels, and she just said, thank you so much it will definitely be useful to have two sets of these for years to come.

Yeah I already know I got a duplicate gift and it wasn't something like towels that I need 2 of. I'll just pretend it didn't happen.
