My mom can only afford a certain number of invites for my shower, and the room she is looking at only holds a certain amount as well. I have 3 kids (all on my fiancees side) in my wedding party...is it okay if we make it an Adults Only Shower? The kids are young, 5 years old...my thought is that a shower means nothing to them and I know this is selfish..but I kind of dont want them ripping my presents apart like I have seen at other showers...but do you think this will piss people off if their kid is not invited to the shower? It's so damn hard to please everyone!!!!

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
I had 3 little girls at my shower -- they were a couple of years older though, around 7 years old -- and they LOVED everything about the day!
One of them even made FMIL a special scrapbook with the pics she & her mom took at the shower. It was the cutest darn thing I've ever seen.
ETA: Not everyone will be able to attend your shower (like any other kind of event). Are you taking a % of no's into account?!

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
That is what we are in the process of doing actually...finding out who from FH side is most likely a 'no'. My own experience is just to keep it to adults, especially since its not at the house, but at a place. But my dilemma is since their in the bridal party, do I HAVE to invite them?

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
I would DEFINITELY include them if they are in the Bridal Party!!!
Since they are young, it is possible that you might not even be charged for the little girls --- or you might only have to pay 1/2 price for them. Worth looking into!
And my shower was at The Carltun, so I understand what you are saying about it not being in someone's living room or back yard.

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
you don't HAVE to invite them. my nieces were in my cousin's wedding and they were not invited - not a big deal.
kids do tend to be cheaper (and most kids 5 and under are free) so it might not save that much

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
You do not have to invite them to the shower. It's not like they are pitching in to help with anything. They're just there to look cute

I've never been to a shower with kids. I thought it was an adults only thing.

same here. just cause the kiddies are in the BP doesn't mean they HAVE to be invited to the shower. its for adults. especialy if a few gifts might be sexy lingerie and stuff--you don't want to show that in front of kids
a friend of mine had her shower and some relatives did in fact bring kids (first time i EVER saw that) and they were just runnign around like CRAZY and dying of boredom thru the opening of presents and such.

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
It really depends on what you want. Personally, if they were in my bridal party, I'd want them to be at my shower.
But, if you don't really want them there you can just tell their parents that you are expecting some 'raunchy' gifts that you don't think will be appropriate around them...

Re: Shower Etiquette Question
It depends on the kids, I know i'm having 4 kids from 11-3 years old in my wedding and they are so excited to help out with the shower. So if they really don't care then I wouldn't worry about it but just make sure they don't think its something they can help with then don't get invited. I would talk to there parents and find out what they think!!
