As many of you know, my mom and sister live out of state AND I have a small BP (my sister is the MOH and my best friend - who lives here - is my BM, that's it). Best friend is currently working F/T and in veterinary school F/T so she's been rightfully distracted. I'm doing a lot of the shower planning on my own.
Also as I've mentioned, our wedding favors will be two donations and possibly chocolates.
Is it cool to have edible shower favors? I'm thinking boxed cupcakes from Crumbs or Sugar Sweet Sunshine...maybe Magnolia, but their selection of flavors is tiny compared to the other two.
I've always received a trinket of sorts when I've gone to a shower...and usually it ends up on a shelf for awhile. The only shower favor I've actually used was a luggage tag - and while I'd love to use that idea, it was at my cousin's shower only a couple years back and we're going to have a lot of the same people at mine.
So, are edible favors cool for the shower?
(Too bad there wasn't a superlative category for Most Clueless About Wedding Stuff )

i think the cupcake idea is great!! like you said most shower favors end up getting tossed or collect dust, so im sure this idea wont go to waste!

My BMs had red and silver M&Ms made up with one of our epics, our names and wedding date, and my name and shower date. They put these in small, red organza bags and they were a HUGE hit. I loved them too! So, I think there is nothing wrong with an edible favor, and I am with you on the trinket-like favors never to be used again. (This is also why we are giving out chocolate truffles as our wedding favors.)

absolutley! I think cup cakes could be really cute. Especially since didn't you want an Alice in Wonderland theme... you can even make little tags that say 'EAT ME' on them

i think a cupcake or something else edible is a good idea.
but for some ideas the most useful favor i ever received was a spoon rest. i even get FH to use it!!

alright well as long as you arn't making me taco's Friday using the 'baby makin' spoon I am happy.

I originally told my mom i wanted tea/coffee mugs filled with kisses for my shower... but my sister mentioned a few weeks ago that my favors were awesome... and i think they nixed my idea... but i would definitely love an edible shower favor...
