My best friend is getting married in September and I am helping to plan her July shower. I am having a heck of a time picking a favor!
I wanted to do cupcakes, but she just did those for her sister's baby shower, and a lot of the guests will be the same. I was thinking of candy, but since its July, will chocolate really hold up well?
Would you like to get some cute cookies and a spatula in the wedding colors (yellow, I think that would compliment most people's kitchens).
Every shower I've been to lately does some sort of 'beauty' favor - lotions, bath salts, etc, so I do want to do something different.

Stuff a Bagel in Farmingdale does these HUGE cupcakes and then surrounding the giant one they have different pretty large ones in custom colors and they'll work with you on the price.

Re: Shower Favors
I like your cookie idea; I'm actually planning on telling my mom/cousins I want something like this for my shower.
Chocolate may not hold well in July; save yourself the trouble.
I've seen mini sewing kits, cookie cutters, tea or spice bags. I like the mini sewing kits, they're good to keep in your purse just in case. Trust me it will come in handy one day; FSIL's skirt ripped and she fixed it in no time with her sewing kit.

Re: Shower Favors
I gave out flip flops from Old Navy they were $5/each. It's a fun summer-y thing to do. They come in cool bright colors. Everyone LOVED them. I put them in pink organza bags. They were a HUGE hit. I just had to get everyone's shoe size before so that was somewhat of a pain, but the effort was worth it.

I like the idea of the portable sewing kit. Also, someone posted on BHB with these cute and bright compact mirrors. I am looking into the purse valet hanger thingys for my shower... I have one and it's amazing!
