Shower games...

Shower games...

Hi ladies! I am planning my FSIL's shower. We are only having about 15-20 people at the shower (b/c her family lives far away), so we are having it at my aunt's house. Since half of the guests will be eating on their laps, it will be kind of difficult to play BINGO or any games that require writing.

So far, I am planning on doing the 'newleywedd' game where I ask my brother questions beforehand...and bride has to answer his questions correctly. I was thinking of doing the 'design the bride's wedding dress' w/ TP, but I'm not sure if we will have enough room. I guess people can spread out in different rooms.

Anyone have any other suggestions that don't require writing? TIA!

I did the wedding dress game and bingo, but the funniest game that my BM organized was that they would ask me a whole bunch of questions about FH and if I got them wrong I would have to chew a piece if bubble gum (bublicous gum to be exact) I got soooo many questions wrong and my mouth was full of gum, everyone thought it was sooo funny!

The gum game sounds funny, I never went to shower with that game before.

We did that for my friend and it was hilarious! A lil embarrassing so it has to be for a girl with a good sense of humor!!

I also like the low key game where you set a timer to go off like every 5 minutes and whomever's gift the bride is opening when it buzzes gets a prize....

Re: Shower games...

my bridesmaids did a basket of candles for me with a poem and read it - it was really cute. They read it and handed me the candles. It was in a nice basket and they made the poem look all pretty and left a copy of it in the basket.

A Basket of Candles For Coleen

A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night.
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left - for the big TWO FIVE
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations Coleen and Keith
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way I said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

Re: Shower games...

The gum game is the same as the 'newleywedd' game basically. I am doing it a little differently, though. The bride is going to unwrap a present, whoever's present she unwraps, reads the 'newleywedd question'. If the bride guesses correctly, the person whose present the bride opened, get a prize. If she doesn't answer correctly, I will give out something small...like a mint. So basically, every guess will have a chance to win a prize.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am already doing all of the suggestions given (including the candle poem since the bride loves candles).

Re: Shower games...

I'm wondering where I can get candles for cheap. I think my best bet is Michaels. I would love to get Yankee Candles, but it could get pricey with 18 candles.

Has anyone ever used Michaels candles? Do they burn quickly? I know it's just for presentation, but even still.

I'm also not sure where I can find two green taper candles. They usually sell them in packs of 8 or more.

I think my girls found most of them at Michaels / AC Moore - I can ask one of my BMs tonight and see what she says!

Thanks so much! And did you use the candles yet? Do they burn slow or fast? Again, it's really just the though that counts, but it would be nice if it burned slowly ;)

Re: Shower games...

We did a game at my shower, where FH picked some of his favorite items off our registry. We wrote them on a list and when that gift was opened the person who bought it received a little gift. You could also just set a kitchen timer to go off at random intervals and the person who's gift is being opened wins a prize

Not a BIG fan of the gum game, you end up having gum in your mouth for kinda a long time, and my stomach started to get funky bc i had a ton of it in there

The game is super funny because some people totally miss the picture, as you can see.

Re: Shower games...

oh another really fun one,

get a cheap apron and put kitchen supplies on it. have the bride wear it while opening gifts, about 1/2 way through the gifts have her take off the apron, then at the end you start the game, ask guests to write down what items the bride was wearing and whoever gets the most wins!
