Shower Games

hello all,

I'm planning my sister's shower...any ideas for non-cheesy games we can play? We are doing a timer that will go off during presents and whoever's gift is being opened will get a prize, the bride does not want bingo....anything cute you've seen? I would like to give out a lot of prizes/possibly the centerpieces too.

Oh and manageable games...there will be about 100 women in attendance.

Thanks!!!!

Favorite game I played at a shower was the what's in your purse game. Everyone had to stand up at their tables and the hosts went through a list of items found in a purse. If you didn't have the item you sat down and last one standing won a prize!

I loved the games my bridesmaid set up for our shower. There was 2 truths and a lie. Each member of your bridal party has to submit 2 truths and 1 lie about your history/friendship/relationship together. A prize was awarded to the first person that figured it out first, but I could imagine you can play around with it. My mom found out about some of my teenage dirt, but it was really funny to re-live some of the stories. We did 'What's in your Purse' as well.

great ideas! I've seen the purse game but usually it's scavenger hunt style....I like the stand up/sit down way better. I play two truths and a lie with my students! Never thought to do it at a shower...

One final detail....most of the women are older greek women...so we need easy to understand games without a lot of writing involved because I don't want people weak in English to feel excluded (my family and my sister's fiance's family are all off the boat immigrants!)....also his side is very conservative/religious so nothing racy....

any other suggestions for this kind of crowd????

I LOVE the Left/Right game! Its a great way to give out a few BIG prizes OR the centerpiece! The guests have to listen closely as you read a story and they must pass the gift/centerpiece to their left or right whenever they hear that word being read. Google 'left right bridal shower' and you will see some examples of stories that you can change to fit the bride and groom!

at my shower, my sister did 'what the bride wore' and people LOVED it! She had me walk out of the room and handed out cards that said 'what color shoes was I wearing' 'was I wearing earrings?' etc. etc. etc. and people had alot of fun with it... They also did a game where the guests had to answer questions about me and rory, then my sister asked me them and whoever's answers matched with mine the most won a prize...We also did the newlywed game but that wasn't for the guests, that was just for me where my sister asked my husband questions and then asked me the same ones to see how much we know each other

This!! Had so much fun doing this game for my sister's shower. Got a lot of laughs. We did it per table and gave out smaller prizes to the last person standing at each table!

I was at a shower recently where the bride's mother put together a collage of pics of the bride and you had to guess how old she was in each picture. That was fun, especially for those of us who haven't known her forever, it was fun to guess. The bridesmaids also did the cleaning supplies poem, but as an added thing, you have to write down how much you think each product retails for. The person with the closest total at the end won a prize. I totally won that one, lol.

I did really two really different games at my sister's shower this past year that were a big hit!

Who has the groom? This is more of a door prize type of game. I found the idea here: http://normalactivities.blogspot.com/2012/07/bridal-shower-games.html

I also did a game called: Guess the facebook status

I went through my sister and her now husband's facebook pages and wrote down statuses they have had over the last several years. I then wrote next to it their names and the guests had to circle who they thought said what.

I once went to a shower where you were divided into groups..then the gave each group a roll of white paper toilet..you had to wrap one person in the group with paper toilet and make a wedding dress as best you can..I ended up being wrapped and looked like a bride wrapped in white paper toilet..it was a lot of fun..then the guests voted on the best one and that person won a prize

thanks! these are all great...my sister did the left/right poem at my shower so i don't want to copy....I love all the other ideas...I will suggest them to my bridesmaids and see what they say (the facebook one is especially cool but neither one of them have facebook.....maybe I can do 'who said it?' and do various things they've said and have them guess which one...thanks sooooo much!!!!!
