Hi- We (the bm's) are all chipping in for a shower gift for my best friend's shower. I also wanted to get her something else special just from me, since she is my best friend. Is this wrong? Do I have to notify the rest of the BP or her sister the MOH?

I've done this plenty of times in the past for my friends. you don't have to tell anyone but if comes up or you feel like mentioning it to anyone..go ahead.

I would mention it, at least to her sister the MOH. If I was in a BP and we agreed to chip in and then someone went and got something else extra, I would feel bad.

If you think it might insult anyone, maybe give it to when you are alone after the party.
You shouldn't have to ask their permission to buy your friend a gift!

It is fine My moh and BMs chipped in for a gift, but my MOH did extra stuff , one BM bought me an extra gift too- but the other BM didn't... she was not able to attend the shower, so she probably didn't even know, but I think it is fine to do..I know I have bought 'extra' gifts for the weddings I was in too

I agree. I think its a great idea..and I would do the same...just don't want the other people in the party to feel bad.

even when i am a BP and we chip in I also do something else also .... in the past i dont recall letting anyone know... to me if it comes it it comes up... (i hope this is not the wrong thing to do.... oooops)
