Today when I got home from work and there was a package waiting for me from Bed, Bath & Beyond from a neighbor and her daughter that were invited to the shower.
Does that mean they are not coming to the shower and FH and I can open it and write a thank you note now? or does it mean they are coming and we bring it to the shower to open there or what? lol
I ask b/c I anticipate this happening for a few of the guests and I wasn't sure if anyone knew proper etiquette- like do I wait until around the shower to open it?? Cuz it would be nice to get a head start on some of the thank you's.
Thanks!

Re: Shower gifts mailed early to my apartment
I wouldn't bring it to the shower. They probably would've had it mailed it to them if they wanted it at the shower.

Re: Shower gifts mailed early to my apartment
I would assume that means that they are not coming to the shower. I would just call your mom/MOH and explain the situation. If they say, that they RSVP'ed 'no', then I would open the gift.

yea i second that- call whoever is planning your shower and see if they're coming or not and take it from there....

Re: Shower gifts mailed early to my apartment
Good idea- my bridesmaids are hosting- I'll call one and ask if they RSVPed no.
Can I open and sent a thank you right away or do I have to wait to open and send a thank you after the shower when I send all the others??

Re: Shower gifts mailed early to my apartment
I would send a thank you after the shower. If it was a gift for your engagement, that would be different since many people give gifts within 6 months of your engagement....but since this gift is specifically for your shower, I would wait to send a thank you (but open up the gift now ). You can still write out the thank you and address it. :)

I think it depends on how far away your shower is. If it's around the corner I would wait to send the thank you, but if you've got some time in between I would send it now.

Re: Shower gifts mailed early to my apartment
the same thing happened to us but we got like 4 packages from bbb and we only opened one when it came because it was out in the rain for a couple of hours so we wanted to make sure that it wasnt anything that could have gotten ruined from the rain but the others we gave to my mom who brought them to the shower

Yeah, they are either not coming, or just mailed it.
