Shower help

My daughter will be getting married here in NY in Oct.
She lives now and will continue to live in Alaska after the wedding.

Here is the problem:
Her aunts would like to throw her a shower when she is here in NY in August.
Since she will not be able to carry all her gifts home to Alaska would an 'online' shower be tacky?

Any suggestions would be great!

What do you mean by 'online' shower? My mother is having a similar problem with my sister. She's in the military and is based in Seattle. Her and her fiance are planning on settling in VA after the wedding. But the shower will be for her in NY. My mom will probably hold on to all of the gifts until my sister is ready to relocate and then either have them shipped or my sis will come and get them. Granted the situation is different in that VA is a wee bit closer than Alaska , but perhaps your daughter could have a shower here and the gifts could be sent to her in Alaska as opposed to having her open them here?
