Shower invite question

Shower invite question

My MOH has asked for my guest list so that she can start working on the shower. I know etiquette dictates that every female that is invited to the wedding should be invited to the shower.

Now what do I do if I have yet to meet some of the people on the guest list?? There are only a few people I haven't met yet, but these are wives and SOs of our friends. Like I haven't met FH's friend's wife yet. Or my brother's friend's GF. Do I tell my MOH to invite these people anyway even though they have no clue who I am?

i wasnt asked for a guest list but my FMIL, and cousins (BP) invited all my friends and family

my co-workers were not invited but they would have been if SOMEONE had asked me for a guest list

im hoping that maybe ill have a work shower too so they can be included

Re: Shower invite question

So basically just give her a list of who I want there??? I'm just trying to figure it out, because out of the whole list right now, only 2 or 3 people I don't know and never met.

i gave my sister a list of people who i want there. there were a few females in my fi family that i haven't met and i didn't want it to be an akward situation. i just want it to be close family and friends. ~lacey

Re: Shower invite question

I didnt put every female on the invite guest list and I STILL ended up having 77 people on my guest list. Upon suggestion frommy sisters and FH, I cut it down to 65. I know they will end up with under 50. This is what happens if you get married when you are old. I had about 10 more years of meeting people under my belt than most of you!!! Fh's mother doesnt like showers and said shed just as soon cut everyone from her side off. Now you tell me how it would look for me if I didnt invite his whole side.

I would NOT invite people that I do not know to the shower.

I put family and close friends as well. I felt that if I was invited to a shower of a person I never met, I may feel a bit uncomfortable.

I PUT ONLY CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND FH CLOSE FAMILY
THATS IT

Re: Shower invite question

I only had close friends and family at my shower and still had 70 people. I thought inviting people from work or wives of my guy friends would be too much.

Re: Shower invite question

Not every female invited to the wedding is invited to the shower. Just your close friends and family. You might also invite some of the gf and wives of you FH friends. The girls you see and hang out with. I have gone to some weddings when I wasn't invited to the shower, especially weddings of co-workers.

I agree. I don't want to meet anyone at my shower. I put close friends and family on the list only. FMIL is free to add to the list if she wants.

Re: Shower invite question

I was going to ask this same question - thanks for thinking ahead.

Based on this - I will invite only family (his and mine) and friends. My coworkers I know will throw me a shower at work so i won't ask them to come to another. As for FH's friends and wives of his friends, if I haven't hung out with them. I won't invite them.

Thanks!

Re: Shower invite question

Just think how comfortable you'd feel. We are only inviting those who I think will feel comfortable. When we got engaged I asked FH for lists of those who should be invited (no girlfriends or guests of guests unless they'd be comfortable). Remember good ettiquite then suggests they send a gift.
