What do you think....... Is it appropriate when having a bridal shower to invite the out of town guests that you know are not going to make it? Or is it considered tacky? And if they are not invited will feelings be hurt?
I'm not sure what to do, anybody HELP!!!!
thanks, pattili

Re: Shower Question
I would say that if any of the out of town people are close family members like aunts, grandmothers, and first cousins then I would invite them and leave it up to them if they want to come. But, I wouldn't invite the out of town guests that aren't close family members.

close family should definitely be invited no matter what.

Re: Shower Question
My shower invites were only sent to OOT guests that are 'close' to the family. I kind of felt like sending a shower invite to someone who lives so far away was kind of like asking for a gift, and I didn't want to do that. But that's just me.... Talk to your Mom about it - and FMIL. They may see it differently.

Re: Shower Question
My FMIL wanted to invite her Aunt, cousin, and cousin's daughter from OOT and knew that they would not be able to make it, since I didn't know them very well ( I have met them only once) I didn't. It would be more like asking for a gift. IMO
But on the other hand I did invite my aunt from OOT, her feelings would of been hurt if I didn't.

This is true. FI's aunt, godfather and cousins live in OHio so his aunt and cousins were invited to my shower but of course they RSVPed that they could not make it.

Re: Shower Question
We only invited family from OOT except for my mom's friend in Colorado... but she is a very close friend of my mom's. She actually made it to my sister shower! But she can't come to mine.
