Shower Question

Is it proper etiquette for the brides mother to ask the bridal party for help, money wise, for the brides shower???

Was gonna search for etiquette rules but figured I'd just come to the bible!!

Re: Shower Question

Yes, it is fine to ask. In every wedding I have been involved in, the shower was thrown (and paid for) by both the mother of the bride and the bridal party.

Re: Shower Question

i think its fine for the mom to ask the BMs. i think its customary for the BMs to chip in for the shower, so i dont see why asking should be a problem

my mom kinda asked, but not really She had paid for everything herself, and the day-of, she mentioned (in a very roundabout kinda way) to one of the BMs about chipping in. the BM said kiddingly 'oh, we already spent all our money on janine'. so my mom just left it at that. i know things were tight for my mom, so she may have wanted a little $$, but she knew my BMs were pretty strapped financially too, so she didnt think it was worth it to pursue it. But yeah, as a BM (which i am now), i fully expect to make contribution to the shower, so i dont think its inproper for her to ask at all

Yes it is fine to ask the bms to help out with the shower. My mom paid the bulk of it but each girl chipped in a certain amount. they also chipped in for a group gift.
