Shower Review!
Okay so here is a mini review of my shower for anyone that needs some ideas!
Carosello's: The food was amazing, as usual. The staff is excellent to work with. The balloon decorations ( royal blue and pink ) were included and so was the AMAZING Napoleon cake that everyone loved! We started with calamari, clams, pizzas and a salad. Then a choice of penne alla vodka or rigatoni marinara. I think there were six entree choices - I had the pork chop campagniola which was REALLY yummy. Their capuccinos are so cute in little champagne like glasses rimmed with sugar. They also had cookies on each table when the cake was being served. My family dealt with Lisa, she is also my neighbor but always an amazing help with party planning!
Flowers: My parents used Cityline florists for the flowers, some Queens girls may know where they are located. They made a beautiful dais that is STILL sitting on my dining room table and STILL in great condition! My sister got ceramic teapots (FROM WALMART!!)and asked the florist to fill them with roses. The teapots were a big hit - everyone loved them!! I also got a corsage but it got in the way of my serious gift opening LOL
In the background of this picture you can kind of see the ceramic teapot:
Games: I always worry about bridal shower games because some people in my family do not speak english very well - and some games put them on the spot. However, my girls picked out PERFECT games that you didn't have to participate in if you chose not to and it wouldn't be obvious, and I really loved them all!
Game One: What shower is complete without bingo?! Always a big hit - even though FH's grandma CHEATED!
Game Two: Guess my age. My cousin made a collage with all pictures of me. Each picture had a letter. Each guest got a paper on it with letters on the left and numbers on the right and they had to match up the age to the letter! It worked out great! And again, no one felt pressured to participate.
Game Three: GREAT IDEA ALERT! my bridesmaid bought my thank you cards, she took out the envelopes and instructed every guest to write their name and address on each one and they could win a prize. After we played the other games they saw how many prizes we had left and then I got to pick random envelopes out of a bag to see who won them! AND then I had all of my envelopes addressed for my thank you's!! It saved me so much time!
Prizes: The prizes were these hot chocolate mixes and each one came with a whisk. There were a few other prizes too for the last game. I know one was a cute desk set and the other was a mini fondue set!
Prizes are in the background of this picture:
Gifts for Bridal Party: My mom got each of my girls a Precious Moments figurine - depending on their role in the bridal party! I collect Precious Moments so this was perfect!
Favors: My sister got the favors from Gifts of Love in Queens. I am also getting my wedding favors from there. They picked out favors that would match my wedding favor!! They were silver pepper grinders/ salt shakers!! SO CUTE!!
You can see how great they were wrapped in the background of this picture:
Extra stuff:
I LOVED my ironing board woman, courtesy of Jenn:
My thong chair was awesome. The chair was actually made by Jenn's mom for HER shower and I was honored that they let me borrow it for mine, my girls added the thongs, LOL:
My ribbon hat, courtesy of Teresa. Seriously, she did such a great job!!
My cousin made me such a beautiful scrapbook - I can't believe how much work she put into it and it was the first one she ever made! She even included the shower invitation and my wedding invitation!
Another Great Tip!: My cousin printed out the entire guest list on a sheet of paper with columns. The first column had names in alphabetical order by FIRST name and the second colum was blank. Whenever I opened a gift, my sister found the name and filled it in. Before the shower started, they asked a few people ( CLOSE family, only ) to fill in what they got me so they wouldn't have to fill it in when the time came. ANOTHER time saver when it came time for thank yous!
Overall: I give my mom, sister and cousin an A+! I really never thought that my shower would be the way it was. My family is usually very traditional and we don't follow a lot of American traditions usually. So all the little extras at my shower were totally unexpcted. Everyone put so much work into it, and it was truly perfect!!!
Thanks for reading!
