shower story for a Sunday. . .

shower story for a Sunday. . .

Can't remember if I posted thsi story here or on the Knot, but if this is a duplicate, I'm sorry!!!

So, last year, a 'friend' (notice the quotes--you'll understand why at the end of the story) got married. YAY, right? So I get the shower invitation and get all excited!!!

Fast forward to two weeks before the shower: she calls me to say that she can't invite me to the wedding. I was devastated and couldn't understand why I wasn't being invited. But I said, screw it, I'll still go to the shower, there should be other people there who weren't invited!

. . .nope, I was wrong. I got there and foudn out I was the ONLY WOMAN AT THE SHOWER NOT INVITED. Talk about upset. I excused myself to the bathroom, called FH, and he calmed me down but said to follow my heart--if it was telling me to go home, then come home and we'll spend a nice day together. Well, I waited until I heard the SURPRISE shouts, then I busted out of there. I left the gift because I was too embarassed to say, 'sorry, you didn't invite me to the wedding, so this gift belongs to me!!'

Umm, I think the BMs and her mother shouldn't have invited ANYBODY not on the guest list. What person does that? She has NOT apologized to me for this, and I haven't talked to her since. Is it wrong of me not to forgive her for this? I can't; I just can't.

This made me SO SURE to only include people invited to my wedding on the shower invite list. (which reminds me, I have to add three more names) I mean, who does that???? I understand not being able to invite everybody to the wedding now that I'm in the process of the wedding planning thing myself, but DON'T INVITE THEM TO THE SHOWER.

**correction to third paragraph: ONLY WOMAN NOT INVITED TO THE WEDDING WHO WAS AT THE SHOWER.**

Wow. Was she aware that you were invited to the shower, and that's why she called you and said that you weren't invited to the wedding? Or was that a completely independent phone call? Either way, there should have been much better communication between her and her mother/BMs. I don't blame you for leaving...but I would have taken the gift with me!

was it definitely her fault? Did her mom or BMs invite you assuming you were invited to the wedding? Maybe she's embarrassed as it is so she's afraid to talk to you.

oh no, that's terrible! Maybe she just really had to cut down on her number. However, her guest list should have been final before it was given to her mom to plan the shower. You really shouldn't invite people to the shower if they are not invited to the wedding. That is my opinion because I would be upset and you had every right to be.

That is just WRONG... only women who are going to be invited to the wedding are supposed to be invited to the shower... now i can see why the 'friend' was in quotes.. how horrible.. i would have been really upset..but you are better than me.. i would have blatantly gone up and taken my gift home with me! LOL!!
