shower thank you question???

Had my shower this past weekend and I have started my thank you already-

so my question

I received a gift from a friend and her mother
(they dont live together and I did not invite her mother to the wedding) do I??
Put her name on the thank you with her daughter or do I mail her one by her self????

I had a situation like that and decided to write both names on it.
I think it is ok to thank someone even if they are not invited.

when i got a gift that had more than one person on the card, i wrote a separate thank you to each person. but then again, both people are invited to the wedding.

i have a friend that sent a thank you addressed to both me and my mom, when i went to her baby shower and my mom wasn't invited, but i also had friends then sent separate thank you's in the sme situation. so i guess it really depends what you would rather do. i think it's ok to send one thank you to the both of them.

I had quite a few guests give me a joint shower gift. I sent each one an individual thank you since they each must have chipped in something for the gift.

I would mail two separate thank yous.

I had a few cousins who chipped in on gifts. I sent them all a thank you separately.

HOWEVER, my FMIL's friends from work - whom I had never met before and are invited (and coming) to the wedding) - chipped into to get us our bedding and I did sent them a joint thank you - because they all worked together and I wanted to acknowledge them all together ...

I think in your case, it depends on how well you know the mother. I would probably send one thank you. I don't think either is wrong, though.
