Shower/Bachelorette Party on the same day??

Shower/Bachelorette Party on the same day??

Hey,

Even though my bridal shower is not a surprise- it was kind of leaked today by my MOH that my bachelorette party will be on the same day right after the shower. I am concerned that this will be too much for one day! When my MOH asked me for an invite list, I did not invite everyone from the shower to the party- just my closest friends. I am afraid some people might get upset if they find out its right after and are not invited. I was also planning on spending time with family that traveled after the shower and now I guess I cant. I was in 2 weddings this past summer and they were scheduled on different weekends which I thought worked out nicely since a shower although fun can be exhausting.

What do you think?

Should I say something or is that rude? two of the 6 bridesmaids are out of state (PA and CT) so they might have done this for them but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't be too concerned about offending anyone at the shower. You can always extend the invite at the shower or do something with another group at a later date. You obviously didn't choose the date yourself, and they will know that. I do think it is a lot for one day though. If you choose to say something, be gentle and choose your words wisely. They probably did do this for the rest of the BP party to be in attendance though.

JMO i would want to go home go over my gifts with my fiance maybe start the thank yous & definately spend time with my out of town family. But maybe your right maybe since your BMs from out of town are coming in for the shower maybe they did that for them. Depedning on what day your shower is maybe do your bparty the night before or after. Hope that helped!

I am having the same thing. 3 of my 5 BMs are out of state and this was the only weekend that they could do both. So my shower is Saturday and then we are taking a ferry to my house on fire island that night and spending the rest of the weekend there. I know it will be crazy...but what can I do???

I know its tough! I also expected to have my FH help me take the gifts home, get a chance to look through them, and then spend time with the out of town family since he won't be at the shower but he'll be around on that day. The shower is on a Saturday so I don't know how we could do it the day before/after if they are going to be busy preparing for it and the next day is a Sunday. I don't want to be bossy and a 'bridezilla' but I really don't want it on the same day! :-/

I totally understand where you're coming from. Can you try to politely express your concerns to your mom? It could be too late in the planning to change things but you never know. Some friends of mine have done shower and bachelorette in the same weekend (i.e. bachelorette Saturday night and shower Sunday day) and that works for out of towners. You could suggest moving your bach to Friday night but then you might be sleepy and hung over for your shower? Tough call. Good luck!

i am having a similar but little easier. . bach party saturday night and shower on sunday. .. think NO ONE will want to straggle in to shower hungover and what not. . but hey that's just the way it worked out. .. and I worried too that people at the shower will be talking about bach party and others will be like. . what?? but I think people just kind of understand they are for two diff purposes. . like I got invted to my step-sister shower but not BP and at first I was offended and then I was like - whatever I get that she just wants to be with her close girls

Hmmm I think it will work out. People will probably expect and understand that the shower will be just closest friends.

Could you maybe schedule something with the other out of town family & friends for the night or day before? Or day after to get together and do something?

I don't know the details of the situation, but is it possible that they are just telling you they are both on the same day-when they really aren't- in order to secure some element of surprise?

Whoops, meant that the bachelorette party will be just closest friends.

I would not do both on the same day. The shower is going to get hectic with getting from the party to your house and you are gonna want to look through everything again with FH.

**UPDATE**

Thanks so much for the advice girls! You encouraged me to talk to my MOH about it nicely and it turns out- she agrees!! She said it would make things a lot easier for her if the events were not all on the same day. She said she only did it b/c one of the out of town bridesmaids said it would be easier for her if she only had to travel once. I'm sure it will all work out- I'm really glad I brought it up to her!

Thanks!
