Showing a lot of back with my dress and I hate my back!!

Um, yeah...don't ask how I ended up with a dress that shows a lot of back off when I hate my back, but that's what happened. I have a lot of freckles and moles and I've always been self-conscious of. Well, it wasn't a problem when I was going to wear my hair half up/half down, because my hair would have covered most of my back. Now I have decided to go with a low bun...I really think it will look the best with the dress overall, but I am going to feel a bit 'naked' considering I always cover my back.

I got some of the Murad spray to try and tame any zits that I get on my back and Mia (makeup artist) said that she could airbrush my back with makeup on the big day.....

My question is...has anyone had experience with airbrush makeup on your body:?? I don't want it to look ridiculous, but I'm hoping it will help me feel more comfortable....

To be honest...I don't think anyone will notice your back; only your beautiful face! If your back were such an issue, I think you would have ruled out the dress immediately when you first saw it...therefore, I know it must look great on you.

Also, isn't the reception in the evening? With the dim lighting and stuff, I am sure no one will see a thing...but this isn't what you asked....I am sure you could get body makeup applied, but I'd be worried about it getting on that gown!

(In the meantime, quit using shampoo or body wash with Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate....that is probably what's giving you bacne!)

Alicia, I'm doing something similar. I have a dress with spaghetti straps that shows off my arms. I have keritosis pilaris (chicken skin), which looks like tiny red bumps all over my upper arms. I'm trying a new cream that makes my arms smoother, but the red dots are still here. I'm having my makeup artist do a little airbrushing so that my color is even. I know that my arms are noticeable in pictures, and I noticed it a lot when I saw closeup pics of me in my dress. I'm not worried though, I've had a good experience with airbrush makeup. I think you'll be fine to have a light layer on your back. The makeup really does stay all day.

My friend had her collar bones and chest airbrushed on her wedding day and you couldn't tell at all and it looked natural!
During my trial, Mia airbrushed by my collar bone area because I had just been on vacation and was red and splotchy. I saw her do it but never even noticed it when I looked in the mirror - it looked natural and you couldn't tell anything was on my skin.
If you are nervous about it - just airbrush your back during your trial - but I'm sure you will be happy with the results.
No worries..

Another option would be inserting a panel of 'illusion' fabric in you dress -- so that you see through it but not in a detailed way.

i would just be cautious of anyone who will be touching your back with their clothing alot.. ie - FH forearms? i would want to make sure that it WON'T rub off on his tux/shirt! That stuff can not be completely rub off proof...

I read somewhere that visine takes the red out of blemishes.. never tried but thought you might want to give it a try before putting makeup on your back...

Why don't you consider doing a half up-do and wearing your hair down in the back, maybe even getting some extensions in your hair to cover a little of your back.

Wear a veil, nobody will be able to see our back as you walk down the aisle. Wear it for the first dance if there is going to be a spotlight on you adn then take it off for the rest of the night. It will be dark and nobody will notice your back when you dance. They won't be able to see your back when you're sitting at the dias and they won't see it when you cut your cake!

With my experience with airbrush makeup, it was really hard to get off. Even after wearing it 24 hours, I still had to use make up remover and work really hard to get it all off. But I'd ask your makeup artist about it and maybe do a trial.

Try mystic tanning-spray tan. I haven't tried it but I people rave about it...Try it once or twice a few months before the wedding & see if you like the way it looks....
A lot of tanning salons have it now...

We're you planning on wearing a veil? Cause that would cover your back a bit too.

you know...my Mom made the point today that I will be wearing the veil all day during pics, and then I will only take it off for the reception, when it is going to be very dark (almost candlelit), so I feel better already. thanks for all the suggestions
