My sister got married last year. I do not particularly care for her inlaws (or my BIL for that matter). Is it okay to leave them off the guest list?

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
We're inviting my sister's soon to be in-laws only because we are close with them. Otherwise, I don't think I would. My sister is not planning on inviting my in-laws to her wedding and I don't think that my FSIL will invite my parents.

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to this. for example, my sister got married last month and i'm inviting my bil's parents and his sister, but thats it. but i'm not inviting my fbil's gf's parents, thats too far off for me

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
Not inviting my SILs family even though I see them every so often. I wouldn't say we're close, but we're not distant either. I don't think they would expect to be invited, either.
I think whether or not you invite them depends on how close you are to them. If you're close, then fine, if not really, then I wouldn't bother.

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
when it comes down to it, it is your day and you should do what makes you happy..
but i know if it would make my sister happy and mean alot to her then there isnt anything I would do for my sister.. So maybe you should talk to your sister about it.. to see if it would bother her if you didnt invite them???
But remember it is your day!!!

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
My family has historically developed and maintained good relations with the extended families and in-laws of everyone. We invite everyone to everything. FH's parents were invited to my nephew's Bar Mitzvah in November. I think they are excited because it is at the same place as our wedding and they can taste everything (though that may be a BAD thing).

Re: Sibling's In-Laws
I am inviting my BIL's mother, his uncle, and his two sisters with their husbands. He has a small family and they are at all the get togethers with my family. Me and FH do not like one of his sisters, but we have to invite her if we invite everyone else. You really don't need to invite them, unless you are around them alot, in that case you really should.

My SIL's mom is basically her whole family so she's invited to everything we have.
