Sick in Alaska - home now!

I was supposed to be home Tuesday night .... but Tuesday morning, I got sick while ON THE SECURITY LINE. Yes, I barely made it to a garbage can.

So, all day yesterday I laid in bed, at yet another hotel (we stayed at 3 prior to this one because we went to three different areas of Alaska), and slept a lot. I felt better at night but still not up to doing anything, and then today we did walk around a bit, but I felt run down immediately ... Oh, I have had a cold and a terrible sore throat for like a week too, before the sudden illness and after.

BUT I had a terrific time - we have such amazing pictures of the mountains and scenery ... our fave part was the hot springs resort we stayed at. The water is sooo hot and it was 5 degrees out when we were in it (yes it's outdoors), so the steam from the water rises and attaches to your hair, etc - and freezes instantly - DH said it looked like I had angel hair pasta for hair.

Driving to the arctic circle was amazing too. I used outhouses that had ice on the bowl Not a lot of people's ideal places to pee, and it wasn't really mine either, but I have to say, it was an experience. There is NOTHING north of Fairbanks, AK until you get to the Arctic Sea, basically ... and it's interesting to see the desolateness and sheer amazing beauty of the state. Really pretty amazing that there is a state in this country that is so untouched by people in so many ways.

We are taking a shuttle to the airport soon and taking a redeye to Salt Lake City, and then we take a flight to JFK ... looking forward to sleeping the entire way. Talk to you when I get back!

oh hun..i'm so sorry you're sick!! i hate the feeling...and being sick away from home is even worse. But other than that i am so glad you enjoyed yourself. Your trip sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! i can't wait to see pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch Jenn I'm sorry you were sick, but very happy you had an amazing time. I bet your pictures are breathtaking...I cant' wait to see them.

Oh no that stinks that you're sick. Good thing you have been trying to rest. Have a safe trip back. Can't wait to see the pics

I'm home!

Been home since Thursday night ... it was weird, we left Alaska at 1:10 AM on Thursday morning / Wed night - and got home Thursday night at like 6:00 (flight got in at 3:30) - we lost a ton of hours and we felt like, what the hell happened to the day? We flew for a total of 9 hours or so but lost 4, but it felt like we lost a whole 15 hours or so because we slept for a lot of the flight.

I felt terrible when we got home so yesterday I went to the doctor. I don't have strep but I have an upper respiratory infection .. I'm on antibiotics, a nasal spray and allegra-D. Feeling a whole lot better today but still not great. Getting a little bored, and feeling like I am cut off from the world since I haven't seen anyone I know well for 2 weeks now except for DH... he just went out to see a friend and it's weird because it's the first time since the HM started that we've been apart for more than 15 minutes!! (and that was only when he went to get me soup when I was sick)

I have a few pics on my computer and plan on getting the rest off my computer today since it's crappy out and I am bored ... so I will post a thread later... but I wanted to say hi and thanks for all of your well wishes
