so my 'wedding date' is supposed to be june 7th, 2007 (our anniversary, and 1 year since he proposed) in NY (Im living in florida right now) at the riviera. we havent saved a dime! its in basically 9 months so we're kinda freaking out and are thinking of other solutions. we thought of maybe having a destination wedding in jamaica at beaches or sandals.. but the thing that turns me off is, their photography package. basically 1200 for 30 pictures. its absolutely ridiculous. they say they can add to the package but its gonna be a ridiculous price. they dont allow outside vendors to come in either.. and my other problem is, i went dress shopping for a 'destination wedding' dress and i hate them all. i found the dress im absolutely in love with, but its too heavy. i dont know.. and the more i think about it, the more i really want my NY wedding with all of my friends and family. i cut down the list from 220 to 130 and now to 97.. but its still gonna cost me at least 18,000 the very least. i cant come up with that in 9 months! we could always wait longer, but we really wanted that date cause it meant alot to us. i dont know what to do, all i keep doing is crying cause im so stressed out. why is this so hard and so expensive? uuughhhhhhh

What about pushing it to 2008, then your date would be 6/7/8

First off .......................
I'm sorry that you are going through this. I don't know what your circumstances are, but if you really want to have your NY wedding you have to start saving $$$$ NOW. Are there household bills that you can cut back on (i.e., cable package, cell package, etc.). It may not seem like much, but the savings start to add up after a while. Is there any you can switch to an afternoon wedding so that your hall and per person charge is cheaper?? (don't know if your wedding is for early afternoon or evening). You can also cut back by having a buffet as opposed to a sit down dinner, having candles for CP's as opposed to floral arrangements, and driving to the location in a car as opposed to a limo or Rolls. There are plenty of ways to start saving $$$$ but you really have to assess your finances now and figure out what can be done. You may have to cut back your guest list even more if worse comes to worse, but it can be done.
If you need any help with your budget FM me - I'll be more than happy to help.

Re: *sigh* im so confused
my wedding is on a thursday night so its cheap as is, its just everything else that goes along with it. im not gonna cut corners with the photographer, thats the only thing thats important to me.. as far as bills.. bills are pretty cheap here. my rent is 500 a month (split with my fiancee) i need to find a 2nd job but i still dont see how im gonna be able to save that much money! i need to save like 1,000 a month for the wedding alone. i just wanna scream. and im definetely NOT waiting until 2008. i've waited long enough and my fiancee is older than me and we just wanna start having children. i dont wanna sacrifice the wedding either by having a buffet. i want to have my dream wedding. i know im not willing to cut anything down and this *****. i also cant find a cheap excellent videographer. i was gonna use timeless treasures but they're like almost 3,000 now. i dont just settle with ok vendors either. i'm in between picking something in blue or angelica glass for my photographers. i love both of their work, angelica is cheaper because she's one photographer, but i dont know how i feel that she doesnt have another photographer with her. *sigh* i just dont know.
Why don't you look into Twelfth Night? I am using them and they are very reasonable. The reason why it's not as expensive is bc you are not getting proofs and albums. They take digital pics and put them on a disc. You get 3 discs. The 4th disc you get with all the jpegs on it an you can go to Ofoto or Shutterfly and get the pics at any size you want and make a $350.00 album for $50.00
Many, many, many brides on this board used them and booked them and they all say that they are fabulous! Then when you meet with them you love them even more! NY Bride used them for her wedding and they use that as the sample to show you.
Do a search- you will see what I'm talking about.
Good Luck!
