SIL turning 43 in May and wants to try to get PG-UPDATED: SHE IS!!

She went for testing last week to see if she could. She is now Gung Ho about having a baby now that her little brother and I are having one. She did the same thing when we got engaged...she gave her boyfriend an ultimatum and told us that she couldn't have her little brother get married before her! Now here she goes again with a baby. She got married last June and all of a sudden now that I'm PG she wants to get PG too. I know I sound petty, but I feel like she is constantly trying to compete with me...

Anyway, she is turning 43 in May. She went last week for some tests to see if she is able to get pregnant still. What type of tests do they do? What are the chances of her conceiving? I just hope that it all works out for her...although I can't stand the competition from her, I hope that she will have a healthy child if she does get PG.

UPDATE: Just found out she is PG. My husband called me...he has no idea how far along though. My other SIL thinks maybe 6 weeks...WOW...

I think it's sad that she's so desperate to compete that she would bring a baby into it just to be in the 'game'. I could see if her intentions were her own but it sounds like she just wants to one up you. How sad for that potential baby

uh oh! couldnt let you have the spotlight huh? i know when people close to you get pg it sometimes makes you think about having one yourself but it seems like she is just trying to keep up with the jones' so to speak. but dont let it ruin your pg. just keep smiling thats what i do!

Wow what a shame that she feels she is in competition with you and DH. Hopefully her baby will be more mature than she is. Best of luck to both of you!

Yep! I am excited for that! They will be very close in age and also we see his sister all the time...

I hate pettiness and I've certainly displayed it above...all in all I hope the baby is healthy and her pregnancy goes well. I feel like a jerk...BUT in my defense, his sister constantly digs at me....

my sil is the same way, dh and I planned to get engaged at for a year- hubby went out paid off my ring, then 1 day before dh was about to propose his brother proposes to my sil total shocker to he borrowed money from his dad the day before to buy the ring- I was livid and then I wanted a baby so badly and got preggo- she got preggo 1 weeks later so now we are due within a week of each other. The only thing nice is that my guy will have a cousin and that I will probably watch her child during the day and she will help me out with the bills so I can be a sahm and that I have someone to complain about preggo woes together.

Well, congrats to your sister for getting PG. It's just a bit unfortunate that she mainly did so to compete with you. It'll be nice that your children will be so close in age though

43 wow! did she have any medical intervention? Or does she have super eggs that lived till 43?

She is going to the Dr. today. She is only 4 1/2 weeks PG...VERY NEW...so her being so high risk...she is basically gonna have to live in a bubble for a while until she's in the clear...

She must have super eggs because she didnt have medical intervention...

Wow, so I'm guessing she was pregnant when she went to the Dr. to see if she was still able to get pregnant?!

I'm not sure why people feel the need to compete with friends and family. I think it eventually ruins friendships b/c it doesn't promote sharing of the happy things that happen in your life.

It's actually pretty sad b/c sometimes b/c some people feel the need to compete they end up making bad decsions. Just because getting married and having a baby is a good idea for you and your Dh doesn't mean it's a good idea for them too. Unfortunately, she'll just continue to compete with you.
