Silent Birth???

Silent Birth???

I watched the Leah Remini baby special the other night and she was very quiet during the delivery. I thought they may have edited the screaming out, but then last night on ET or some show like that they explained that she had a 'Silent Birth'. I have never heard of this before. They said it is when the mother doesn't get loud during delivery and it 'helps the child out when they are older'. Can anyone explain this further because I never knew they chose to scream.

I never heard it termed a 'silent birth' but I didn't scream during labor. I cried a little and moaned while I was in active labor (5 cm dilated) but during pushing I was having conversations with my hubby, doctor and nurse between contractions.

Were you in any pain? Or no pain so that's why you were able to have conversations?

What she was doing, it said on ET last night had something to do with the Church of Scienetology. If you noticed also the drs and nurse were being EXTREMELLY quiet also, they were not having conversations between themselves or with her.

During pushing I had the epidural so it wasn't really any pain I was feeling but I would feel a sense of pressure on my cervix when I had a contraction.

She did it for religious reasons. Kelly Preston did it also (John Travolta's wife). Hypnobirthing can help you achieve that without pain meds. It also adds calm IMO to a situation when doctors/nurses may tend to yell or make you more nervous.
