Ok I'm a bride on the budget. I splurged on my dj and photography so now I need to cut back on flowers. I'm doing my own centerpieces I want tall centerpieces with white flowers (doesn't matter if they are real or fake) I definitely want real flowers for my girls and real boutineers for my guys however I don't want to break the bank for flowers it just doesn't make sense to me. If possible I would like to spend $500 or less for flowers and $500 is the max. So my question is what do you girls think of silk flowers? I'm just weighing my options.

Re: Silk or Real Flowers
IMO, use real, but get them in bulk! Try costco, or sam's club. You can more than likely get flowers well within your budget from them! They have pre-made packages, as well as loose stems for sale. I would normally say go with whatever, but I recently saw photos from a wedding that used artificial and I could tell from the pics they were fake. Another idea would be using candles/candelabras, and skipping flowers all together. (Like these!)

There are def some silk flowers out there that look just as nice as real flowers, but depending on what kind of flowers you're looking for they may be comprable in cost to real blooms.
the one big benifit of silk flowers is that you'll have more time to put your centerpieces together. You could do it weeks or months in advance and not have to stress about it the night before your wedding.

Re: Silk or Real Flowers
I am actually using silk flowes for my CP and real for everything else. The thing is I am doing tall branches with just a few flowers....so it didn't make a huge difference whether real or fake. I chose fake because I could get the right purple without a problem, and it would last forever so people could take them and keep them.
My FSIL made super nice CP using silk carnations in a round ball on top of a vase with crystals hanging in them...and they came out really nice, and you wouldn't of even noticed the difference.

Those are great! Definitely not what people think of when you think of artificial flowers! They look very modern and chic :)

that's a beautiful CP!
we used the CP offered at our hall and it featured silk flowers. everybody loved it so much that they tried to bring it home! (good thing it was heavy - we didn't want to tell them it's a rental. haha)
fyi, the really nice silk flowers can get costly too - some are even pricier than getting the real flowers. i suggest do you research and do price comparison because you might be surprised which one would really save you $.

I had silk flowers and I loved them. I have them in a vase on a shelf in my bedroom now. Look in my album under album proof and you can see them

Re: Silk or Real Flowers
i think it depends on the fake flowers you get...some look more realistic then others. i would suggest going with real flowers that you buy in bulk. i think the better looking fake flowers probably cost as much as the real ones
