Silly Question

I have no idea in what order to do things. Obviously pick the date and place, but then what?

Thanks for your advice.

Re: Silly Question

Decide on a budget.
Start looking at vendors, dresses.
Think about color schemes...

church/cermony location
reception
photographer/videographer
music ie. DJ/Band
flowers
limos

I would say in that order going by how quick things book up

Re: Silly Question

First book the place (and church if applicable) so you have a definite date. Then start looking at photographers and DJs/bands. Those are both really important and the good ones book up fast. You should also start shopping for your dress as some designers take a year to come in!! HTH!!

Pick up a bridal mag or planner that has a 'To Do' list right up til your wedding day, that should really help!

First things I did:
band/dj
photographer/videographer

Re: Silly Question

Start with making a budget
Find a hall
Book officiant or church
Interview 3 of each:
DJ
Limo
Florist

Get your big stuff out of the way while you research dresses, colors, theme, and details like favors, programs etc.

HTH!

Re: Silly Question

We did budget, date, officiant, hall, my dress, photographer, DJ, limo. We have figured out favors, and invites, but haven't ordered them yet. I have interviewed 10 florists (going back to two). I have interviewed 1 DOC, this list is now reminding me to call and set up hair trial for Dec 10 (FH company x-mas party), working on STD's (we're trying to decide which pic to use) and DIY.

I picked BM dresses, waiting for OOT BM to try on. I bought jewelry for my girls last week because I got a great deal at Macy's. Need to find FG dress, but will have to go to VA and take FG shopping myself - I'll probably do that in April.

I've been working on my music lists (everytime I hear a song I WANT played at my wedding I write it down together with the name of the artist, so that I will have a nice full list come August).

And everytime one of these lists pops up, I see what everyone is saying and add and delete as I go along.

Re: Silly Question

I woukld say to get your major vendors booked as soon as possible. These include the ceremony location, vanue, dj/band, florist, videographer/photographer & your dress. Once those are done.. and believe me.. Its NEVER too early to book, you can start working on the other things like the invites, DIY projects, favors and BP dresses.

Re: Silly Question

I think a good order is:

Church
Reception Site
Photographer
Band/DJ
Your Dress
BM Dresses
Florist
Limos

Good luck! Try to start with vendors that can only handle one event at a time (like photographers and bands) and then move on to vendors that can handle more than 1 event (limos, florist)
