Silly Question about Wedding Cake
I know the top tier is for you and your FH and is like maybe 6 servings. What about the next tier - anyone know? I'm guessing it will feed like 15?

I didn't do this but some people have a sheet cake made which is exactly the same as the wedding cake to feed more guests. You could have an elaborate cake make to cut but not serve.
it really depends on the size of it. I'm only having between 80 - 100 people and it's a 3 tier cake. The top layer obviously is reserved for FH & I to eat on our 1 year anniversary. So it's basically the other 2 tiers that are feeding everybody. So i don't know how the math is gonna work with that.
we will have about 80 guests and we will have a 3 tier cake - the caterer said this is way more than sufficient and if we added extra tiers it would just waste money because no one would be eating it.
i had a 4 tier cake the top is for DH and i and they made a small sheet cake to make sure all the guest would be fed and that didnt cost me any extra so i think it is common practice!
Duh, I should have said ... our cake is 4 tiers but that includes the tiny one at the top.
It really depends on the size of the cake. Some bakers make their tiers bigger than others. I originally wanted a 3 tier cake but my baker said for 120 ppl, I'll need a 4 tier cake. The top tier to bring home and the lower 3 tiers we all served. The slices where pretty small too.
Ours was 3 tiers and we only had 98 people there. The top tier came home with us, and they served pretty nice size slices so there wouldn't be any left over.
