Silly question - speeches

Silly question - speeches

Who is giving a speech at your wedding? And how long do you think the alloted speech time will be?

We have 2 BM and 2 MOH. I know one MOH won't give a speech bc she's too shy but will stand and support the other MOH. The 2 BH will speak bc they are FH's brothers.

I know it's early but when we spoke to our bridal consultant I was talkin about the flow of the wedding and timing cameup. Is it unreasonable that we want to keep the speeches to 15 minutes (20 MAX) but want to give the majority of the time to the BM? I'm already being told that since the boys get X time then the MOH MUST get the same time. T his from the MOH

Personally, I even think that is a lot of time - Remember the more time they talk, the less time you get to party, dance, etc. Plus, although your guests will love hearing how great you are, it tends to get a little boring after awhile. I would say keep each speech to a max of 5 min so a total of 10 min. If both BMs want to speak, have them combine their speeches.

They can also give an extended speech during your RD before your wedding, when its usually a more intimate laid-back setting.

My sister who is the MOH and his brother who is the Best man are giving speechs. We are not giving them a time limit but we are asking to not make it too long so everyone can party!

At the rehersal dinner we are going to allow the other bridal party members speak

We also have two BM (FH's friend and brother) and two MOH (my friend and sister). I think we're going to have our friend's make a speech at the RD and then have our siblings make the speech at the reception (so long as that's what they want to do).

I like splitting the speeches. I think we may do this. MOH's at the RD and BM at the wedding. I really didn't want to 'waste' a lot of time

Thank you for confirming in my mind that that is ALOT of time. I got the 15's as high end of what my bridal consultant saw at weddings.

This!! I've been to a few weddings where both MOH split the speech. One wedding they were back to back and related the speeches to each other. The other one was written out and each girl read specific parts. This particular speech was really funny, and it didn't last too long either. HTH! Oh! And I'm a really quiet person and don't like to speak in front of crowds but when I was MOH for my best friend, I wrote out my speech which really helped curb my shyness when I read it to the guests. HTH too!

20 minutes is definitely too long. I love the RD idea of making a longer speech there.
