I haven't been to any yet, so I have tons of questions:
1) Do I have to bring all the hair accessories that I'll be using on the day of? I just haven't bought any yet, but would like to get the hair/make up trials out of the way before I buy hair pieces.
2) Is it very important to buy the veil before hair trials so that I can bring it with me?
3) If I want a beehive-type thing in the back, but don't have enough hair to give it that nice volume, will they be able to use extensions (or whatever it is that's needed) during the trial? Also, on a related note... how reliable are extensions? My biggest fear is that they will fall out while I'm dancing.
4) I know this sounds stupid, but do you have to go in with squeaky clean hair? Someone told me that many hairdressers prefer to work with hair that hasn't been washed for a day because it's easier to manage and will hold better... don't know how true this is.

Re: Silly questions regarding hair trials
I don't think they are silly questions at all! I think it will only be helpful to you to bring as much as you can, however I didn't have my hairpiece OR my veil when I went to any of my trials. 2 of the sytlists I went to actually had a veil for me to try on with the hairstyle so that helped.

Re: Silly questions regarding hair trials
I think that you should have your veil, and all hair accessories you plan to use that day. If you are going to a salon, I would call them and ask about the hair exstensions.
I never heard that your hair can't be clean, but it MUST be bone dry for an updo.
I went to mine at my hair dressers house, and I brought my veil and crystal pins that I wanted to use. We had to play with the veil too, so it was a good thing I brought it.
Also, take ALOT of pics if you like how it comes out to make it easier to remember that day!
Hope this helps

Re: Silly questions regarding hair trials
my answers:
1) if you have them bring them, if not i dont think its a big deal 2) i bought my veil before my trial, but i didnt not bring it with me, the dress shop suggested that i didnt take it for my trial because if god for bid i got hairspray on it. They gave me a sample one to borrow, just to get an idea at the trial where you wanna put it in. 3) ask your hair person. My salon is going to get them for me and put them in the day of the wedding. i did not have them for my trial. she did what she could with the hair i have, and just noted that it will look more full and a little longer once i have the peices in! 4) I went with my hair clean, i washed it in the morning and my apt was at 2:00. They do recommend you wash it the day before because if your hair is a little dirty it will hold the style better.. i personally think my hair holds pretty good when its clean so i will prob have a clean head the day of the wedding!!
Hope that helps!

Re: Silly questions regarding hair trials
Thank you for the responses!
I'm also leaning towards going with my hair clean. My hair already has a tendency to get oily rather fast, so I definitely don't want it to look greasy by the end of the night.

Re: Silly questions regarding hair trials
I didn't bring my veil or hair accessories with me....I wanted to see how my hair would be before deciding on a comb or headband. I traveled down to LI from upstate for the trial so I just didn't feel like bringing the veil with me!
And yes dirty hair does hold much better, because clean hair is more slippery and can fall out easier especially with thin/straight hair types. I'd recommend washing it at least the night before.
