Groom's Cake? I know it sounds crazy...but I just don't understand! Can someone enlighten me?

I thought it was something you get made for the groom, something he is into, like sports or his favorite movie And you serve it at the rehersal dinner or the actual wedding depending on what you want to do.
If i get one it will have to be something to do with computers, wires and technology...i hope they can do something like that!
I guess its a cake showing what he is into and what he enjoys

yeah, i did it sort of as a gift to him. He really took a back seat during all this planning and left it up to me and my mom, so this was a thank you.

Oh, ok so it's for the Rehearsal dinner? So it isn't that necessary...right?

For some reason the wedding cake is known as the brides cake, so to make it fair they give one for the groom. I personally dont get it and neither does FH so we wont be getting him a grooms cake.

I think I'm goign to surprise him with one at the rehersal dinner. He doesn't eat cake so I think I'm goign to have Carvel make him an icecream cake with a pic of his show truck on it.

I'm having a Grooms' Cake for the RD... I think it's a cute idea & we can bring our own cake without an extra charge so that's even more of a reason!

the tradition of a groomscake is that all the single ladies at the wedding would receive a piece of the groomscake, they put it under their pillow and they'll dream of their future husband. Of course one of those old wives tales
the groomscake is very big in the south, but its growing in popularity in other parts of the country.
The groomscake is now used as a surprise usually to fh, something to represent him such as a hobby or anything about him. Its a nice little touch when so many other things are about us
it is not necessary.
as far as the RH doing it, many won't. Their designs are different and don't do these type of cakes with these shapes. But the bakery they get the cake just might do these type of cakes. It will cost extra and not be part of the free cake from the RH

IF i have any money to surprise FH i will get one for the wedding.....i think they are thoughtful and usually people get a kick out of them - especially if it really fits your FH and his personality.....

we're looking into getting a grooms cake for fh..hopefully if we have extra $$..its a really cute idea and if you get an interesting looking one it'll be a talk of the party
