How much 'stuff' have you actually bought for the wedding? I've been buying certain things as I see them on sale or I really like them.
For girls who are getting closer (Jan/Feb/March)- how much stuff have you bought and when did you buy it?
For example: I got tote bags and comestic bags for my BP when American Bridal had the $5 bag sale, I got a pen for the guestbook from fortuneoff's, and I got slippers from the VS outlet for my girls.
Now I'm debating buying: flower girl baskets (I saw cute ones for cheap), matchbooks, bridal party tanks (cutomized girl is having a buy 1 get 1 free sale).
Now here comes my other question: DIYs. I want to do DIY programs, menus, slipper baskets, adn cardbox. When should I start on that?
I dont want it to be 2 months before and I have nothing done. but I also don't want to haev to store a bunch of stuff for another year.

Re: Since some of us are still over a year away...
I've purchased the personalized votive candle holders for the tables. I've started to purchase items for my weekend bags.I've purchased my matchbooks and napkins...they were like 17 cents per dozen.......I will probably be purchasing my BM totes this weekend
I never think its to early. We are trying to buy a house next year so i dont know what our money situation is going to be like and i want to concentrate on my dress next year also.

I feel you! I'm probably the laziest bride on this site and my wedding is one year away today. I'm going to start to make a list and do break it up into 12 and do something every month! This month I am going to try and do some stuff. Specifically finding a hair and make up person. But I really don't have much storage space that is another problem I have. I also don't want to change my mind, I do that a lot.

The one year mark is very exciting!! I like the list idea...maybe I'll write down everything I need to buy and figure out when to get what.

I'm having the same issues. I see so much stuff that I want to get but I am afraid it will get... i dont' know what the word is... stale? messed up? discolored? you know what i mean? Also i don't have much storage space... ok we don't have any storage space at all that is not being used.
What do you girls store stuff in anyway? Like so it doesn't get messed up?

I thought about the napkins getting discolored but the company said I can return them if they do get discolored in anyway and get all new napkins in the same color and design. I told them my wedding wasnt for a while and they said it didnt matter. I made them note that on my account then i called back 2 separate times to make sure the notes were in there. Oriental trading said the same thing. We are storing stuff at my FMIL house

Re: Since some of us are still over a year away...
Hmmm lets see what I have so far...
BM gifts are done (for now, gotta gift some things last minute, its WAY too early to get them) Cardbox (Just have to buy some paint to change the color of the frame and then put it together) Matchbooks Stamps for STD's and response envelopes are purchased Bought all my shoes for the wedding day Dress for honeymoon Day of getting ready clothes (bride tank and shortsleeve sweatshirt from VS) FH's day of gift Bubbles (Just in case we decided to go with them...$2 for a box of bubbles at target, couldnt pass it up lol)
I am going to DIY menu's myself...I will start getting the paper and things for it probably around January/March 2010 (dont have the room to store it right now) I will start setting up a layout around the same time. About 6 months before the wedding I am going to contact my hall and see if they have updated menu offerings and if they plan on changing them before our wedding. If they arent changing them, Shawn and I will pick out what we want and I will put it all into the template I set up. Then after the tasting, I will start printing out the menu's and assembling them (want to make sure we dont change our minds about our choices first...). Also going to DIY tables numbers (waiting for epics before I start that), Signature drink things to put on the bar, Candy table (will buy the candy before the wedding, but wait to buy all of the jars/scoops/boxes and stuff for storage purposes) Place cards (votive candles with labels put on them) ribbon wands (may start getting stuff for that soon, just to start working on it slowly

I'm a slacker.
All I've done is RH, Photog, Officiant & Band.
I need to get cracking!
I can't even decide who to book for flowers!!
I haven't purchased a thing!

I have bought absolutely nothing. I'm trying to get the major vendors out of the way first, because I start going crazy with all the extras. I know once I start, I won't stop.

haha, now you're making me freak out because I haven't bought anything yet! Besides for cocktail napkins and matchbooks, I really didn't even think I had anything to buy! Then again, I haven't decided on colors yet so I guess it would be hard for me to get napkins, etc. I think though that I'm going to end up having a 'less is more' type wedding because I clearly don't even know what exists out there to get!

Re: Since some of us are still over a year away...
I dont want to store stuff, lose stuff or ruin anything, so I really havent purchased much. I did buy the tote bags when they were on sales.
I am waiting for FH to complete my office before I make any purchases. Once the room is done...I will have space to store everything
