Since there have been so many posts lately about people hating their jobs....

Is anybody actually happy working where they are and doing what they do? Just curious. I am part of the group that is miserable at work and would love to hear inspiring stories.

My job takes care of me bigtime.

I make a very good salary based upon my position.

They give me decent raises every year.

The company has very flexible hours for me (i pretty much show up and leave when I need to). Right now I am working 11-6:30pm.

They are very profitable so the chance of layoffs aren't as bad as other companies.

They paid for schooling for me and I got computer MCSE certified thanks to that.

Been here five years and in two more years I get four weeks vacation (I get three now).

The work itself is very fufilling and exactly what I want to do in life.

I can see myself being here for many years to come.

And to recognize all of these things... my company has been nominated for one of the Forbes 'Great Places to Work' lists for Small to Mid-sized companies. (Only PR firm in the nation on that list I believe)


There are good jobs out there... you just have to look for them.

Wow, that is great Dj ... I think its wonderful when someone can say they truly enjoy where they work and what they do

So NOT the case for me I hate my job, hate commuting into NYC, dislike my coworkers.. need I go on?

I am so discontent and unhappy at my present spot. I used to love my old firm. I was (still am) a legal secretary. Due to a series of circumstances beyond my control, I moved to a different firm - or else I would have never left the old one

Essentially I held the same position there I hold here, yet I was more involved in the actual legal work there, felt more appreciated, it was far more interesting. As opposed to being more of a administrative, paper pusher here , treated like a child and reduced to doing very redundant tasks

I could go on and on about the difference in my old firm and new one. But the bottom line is, I am a perfect example of someone who doesn't truly HATE what I do necessarily, I just hate where I'm doing it.

Though the older I get, the more I truly wish I could afford to raise a family, and work in a little bookstore or coffee shop and just maintain a simpler way of life

DJpill -- Do you mind telling me which PR agency you work for? I have worked at Fleishman-Hillard and GCI Group and am interested in finding a place with a different enviornment.
