Since there is a ? about dog food.. what is the best cat food??
I just got a cat and she is about 1 years old. I want to get her the best food possible to start her off right. A small pet shop in my neighborhood recommended Precise (only comes wet) which she seems to like. It is pretty $$ but I want to have a dry to switch to and they do not make one. Does anyone switch back and forth between wet and dry or do you always give the same thing? What brands do you recommend? I heard Science Hill is not as good as the vets claim.

I use to feed my cats Wellness, which is an excellent and highly recommended brand, dry and canned. They were on that for almost 2 years and they are very healthy looking and have super soft and shiny coats. They got bored with the Wellness canned food so we switched to Evolve canned food. They do not have meat by-products, which you do not want in your cats food. By products means it can by whatever part of the animal...beaks, feathers, gross. A lot of grocery store brands will have by products.
To keep variety in there diet, and because it is rated one of the top foods, we switched to Innova. They love it.
The brands I would recommended are: Innova Wellness Evolve California Natural Felidae Wysong

We only feed our cat dry food, it really helps with the odor in the litter box. She doesn't like wet food she just licks it.
We feed her Science diet sensitive stomach and then we leave her another bowl with friskies or chef's blend she likes those too.

Our kitty has only gotten IAMS Original dry food. He gets fed morning and evening.
We used to 'treat' him with IAMS wet food .. but our kitty has asthma, and we got a little suspicious of giving him wet food .. thinking maybe it triggered an attack .. so we stopped.
We also used to buy him the wheat grass they sell in the pet stores .. but we stopped with that .. again because we worried it trigged his asthma.
Basically, with our boy and his asthma, we like to keep it plain and simple.

Chloe gets IAMS weight control and hairball control dry food.
She doesn't like wet food....she just licks it...doesn't really know how to eat it.

My two cats like Natural Balance, dry usually, and wet for a treat.

I feed Iams dry and wet. I have read a lot about feeding and cats should have a diet of both because all dry or all wet can cause urinary tract problems. My cats (6 / 4 mine 2 my daughters here temporarily) free feed dry all day and have breakfast club in the morning 2 cans wet for all 6 to share.

mine wont eat anything (not even fancy feast or tuna in the can) but Meow Mix. They starve themselves if they don't have Meow Mix.
