My friend said I 'need' to name my tables, as opposed to just numbering them. I am not opposed to doing so, but my wedding is a very vintage/shabby chic/garden theme, and I am at a loss for what to name them then?
Maybe after flowers? Peony, Rose, Daisy...
Maybe romantic novels? Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Midsummer Nights Dream...
Any ideas?

i was on the fence about this too until we decided against naming it - it's not 'us'.

omg i totally LOVE the books idea...
I like the flower idea, but people might get confused.. 'I'm at the lilly table but the CPs are roses ' well some of my guests would say that

we are using words for our table numbers.
Love, faith, believe, romance, friendship, etc with a quote on the topic. Since our wedding is in the early fall, we were originally going to use the names of trees but we abandoned the 'fall theme' altogether.

i think numbers or names are both fine.
honestly - even thuogh we did names.. i dont think most people will even notice. it was just an easy way to keep my theme going a little bit.

I am partial to the novel idea as that is what we are doing. One of my choices is P & P as one of my tables will be a group of my friends who along with me belong to a Jane Austen society..
I love the flower name of the tables...We were going to do the flower idea first and changed...Our florist was going to do different centerpiece flowers for each table (rose, hydrangea, gerber daisy etc) and that is what they would be named.

IMHO names are confusing... there's no order when you're naming your tables... if there were numbers on the escort cards and then when people were looking for their tables they could see the number and then the name associated with their number, that might be more practical...
like NYC areas...
1) SOHO 2) Upper East Side 3) Williamsburg 4) Midtown 5) Astoria
etc...
just something to think about while everyone wanders aimlessly looking for a random name on a table!

One thing i noticed at weddings is if you are going to do names either put them in alphabetical order or number them as well......for my christmas theme wedding i am doing the 12 days of christmas so my tables are 1 partridge in a pear tree, 2 turtle doves, 3 french hens, etc. Numbers make it much easier for your guests to find their tables.
