Singers/Music at a Catholic Church

Singers/Music at a Catholic Church

Hi Ladies,
How does music work in the church? Do I have to hire from the outside or does the church usually provide you with someone for music?

I don't want anything fancy. I just would like a singer to sing Ave Maria and the usual organ music I guess.

Does that cost extra?

Thanks

It usually does cost extra. The choir director in your church should be able to recommend someone to you. I have a friend that sings in church in Brooklyn and he gets paid $50 per Sunday mass and any where from $100 to $150 to sing at wedding ceremony. I hope that this helps you out.

My church supplies the music for $200. And you have to pay for them even if you dont want to use them, I know there are other churches that do that too.

OK i would say that it depends on the church. I know that with my church they have a woman who will help me with finding someone for music. Churches have their own singers and harpists and help families all the time.

My brother and his FW did all the bookings of the music for the church on their own without talking to the church. They got a harpist and flute and a piano player.

Call the church and see if they have a suggestion list. If not then come back to the site and ask the rest of us. Some of the music vendors will mention ceremony music as an included part of their package.

Even just to have them play the organ?

Wow! Were you able to hear them before hand or no?

I thought the usual playing of the organ would be included. I realize the singer would be extra. So much to think about!

Thanks ladies.
