My friends and I LOVE karaoke, so I wanted to get one of these games for a little gathering. Anyone have these or know which one is better?

Re: Singstar or American Idol for playstation??
I LOVE KARAOKE too andI have Singstar. Its pretty fun, especially the battle mode for a group of people, but I wanna try the a.i. karaoke. Singstar plays the actual videos for the songs and also the singer sings on the tracks, which I don't like. The karaoke revolution games only play the music. Just know one thing; the mics aren't compatible for the games.

wrote you a long post and then got an error... grr
I'd say neither and get ROCK BAND! it also has the singing part but you can also do guitar, bass, drums or any combo of the 4. it's lots of fun especially when you have people who dont like to sing (like me)

we just bought Rock Band - FH is putting it together now!!!!
IMO the american idol is a waste it has cheesy songs on it and there are only like 40 songs on the disc

You can buy new songs for Rock Band online too -- I think they are $2 each or something? I guess in a way it's like buying an expansion pack CD but you can pick out only the songs you want which is nice. Except FH keeps buying songs!!!

FH set up the microphone on a stand and he likes to play guitar and sing at the same time, or play drums. I usually end up playing drums or occasionally do guitar. I have not sung yet...
