Sinple directions for mail merge...anyone?

I know I should know this but I dont really. IIts not that hard to follow in word but Im really confused as to in what way to put the list into excel so it goes into word properly.

Can someone explain the whole mail merge process to me or give me a link to simple directions.

(Oh im doing labels, the avery 5160 if that matters)

If you're doing labels, and you haven't already typed out all the addresses, then I would do it straight from word (this is how I do my Christmas cards and anything else that needs mass mailing).

Open up a blank document.
Click tools -> Letters and Mailings -> Envelopes and Labels
Click the labels tab in the box that pops up
Click options, and choose the type of label you have -> OK
Click new document

And now you should have a page all set with little gray boxes for you to type in.
