We will be moving shortly and just trying to get some ideas, we have a den and living room, we plan on putting our existing furniture in the den and making the living room like a sitting room, that is where the fireplace is, would 2 large chairs and a small table look nice? The room is not so big.

There is a rug in there, in a year I plan on ripping that up and doing the hardwood floors.

I don't know how much you're looking to spend, but a secretary would look nice.
Can you fit a settee in there? mirror?

A sitting room? I would start with a pair of built in bookshelves and a nice thick mantle with some type of dental moulding. Four and one half inch Crown moulding and comfortable chairs would be a must for me.I would also add some type of rustic, but not rotten, table. What type of flooring is currently in the room?

Dh's aunt has one. She has two love seats that face each other with a big round coffee table between them. There are two wing back chairs against one wall (but part of the conversation area) with an end table between them. One one wall she has her breakfront and along another wall she has a bench style cabinet that houses her stereo equip. with tons of pictures on top.
It's so pretty and comfy at the same time. DH really wants to have one if we ever get house.
