Situation at work- nervous! Update on the bottom!

My boss and his boss wen to a meeting yesterday in Atlanta. His & I were here till midnight putting the presentation together. I think something went wrong and it was my boss’s fault. I had nothing to do with, it was something that is totally his job I never even touched it or know exactly what it is! Anyway, my boss mentioned that he is kinda worries he might get fired. Now the deal is that I am a full time freelancer, my boss is the creative director and I am his designer working directly under him, and holding the forces he is out of the office. My boss has been trying to make me a full time employee for some time and it looked like it could have happened. Now. My bosses’s boss secretary just called and asked me to be in his office tomorrow at 9:30. Now, what does this whole thing mean? I am a little nervous! Actually, I am really nervous!

Sorry to ramble on, I just had to share!:

Aaaha, this s.uck.s... If you are really really seriously worried, I would pack and bring home any personal things (in case bad stuff happens and they won't let you pack your own stuff)

I hate when they do that....sometimes my boss will say can you come see me in my office...my heart starts pounding and then it ends up being no big deal like a status check or promotion even.

Dont they know that you are going to worry until tomorrow. Maybe you can ask them what this meeting is concerning. You can say you just want to make sure you dont need to prepare anything.

Good Luck!

I read into this with a more positive outlook...that they are going to offer you his job?

I know its hard...but think about what you would say in both situations...put together a portfolio if you need to show them what you have done...go home relax...have a drink and try to put it out of your mind (as hard as that may be)

on the funny note, my boss's boss called me into his office a few days before the wedding... I was really worried!!! But it was a surprise cake
I would still pack just in case, b/c I have seen people get fired and not let pack their things... Its not a pleasant thought to have all the people see your personal stuff

Re: Situation at work- nervous!

Ok, just spoke to my boss, hopefully is job is not in gepardy anymore, but DO YOU THINK I SHOULD TELL HIM THAT HIS BOSS WHATS TO SEE ME TOMORROW?

I wouldn't. If he needed to know something, he would already know it, but if he didn't need to know, then it might not make sense for you to tell either...

A friend has a boss who steps over his shoes and takes over his responsibilities, so if yours is like that, definitely don't tell..

But if he is 'normal', then perhaps you can either mention it casually or even ask: BTW, do you know why so and so wants to see me tomorrow?

This could easily mean that you will be made full-time and your boss will be let go. It is hard to guess, but I would bet that is it.

I wouldn't just yet...for all you know they could be talking to you about anything...at least find out at the meeting what it is about...then reevaluate whether you should tell your boss or not...

If you had nothing to do about it then don't worry! If he gets fired, it is probably because of more than just this one thing.
