So I am doing the whole-something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a lucky sixpence for her shoe. I mentioned it to my fiancé and he was awesome and found a sixpence on eBay with my father's birth year, which is really cool! I've read up online that the father of thr bride sticks the coin in the bride's shoe on their way to the church. But like.... I don't want a coin rolling around in my shoe all day! Should it be taped or should I make a little pocket inside my shoe?? Haha how does this work!

Re: Sixpence question!
I've heard that a lot of brides tape it onto their shoe, especially if their shoes are open toed.

My sister taped it to the bottom of her shoe.

Re: Sixpence question!
Your post inspired me to look up the meaning behind the sixpence. Is that customary to have the father give the bride a sixpence or is that just something you are doing? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've never heard this before but I am intrigued!

Re: Sixpence question!
A friend of mine bought me one where it was made into an ankle bracelet.

I found it online the other day, but I can't find the exact website at the moment. I didn't know that was the custom either... and it has to be in the left shoe too, for some reason!
Here is a website that also says about the FOB putting the sixpence in the Bride's shoe: http://www.royalmint.com/discover/celebrations/classic-coin-wedding-traditions

Re: Sixpence question!
Interesting to read up on this since I didn't know much about the history of the sixpence in the shoe.
When I first saw the title of this post, here's the first thing I thought of:
