Anyone know where I can find a size chart for brideamaid dresses, that actually makes sense? I have a bridesmaid that lives in pennsylvania, and I have to order the dress for her. She gave me her measurements (Bust 40, Waist 32, Hips 41) But she wants me to get a size smaller than what her measurements are, because she plans on loosing weight, and it is over a year away. She always fluctuates with her weight. I am thinking she is a size 8, but a size chart would be great, if anyone has one. Thanks So Much!

Re: Size Chart?
Each dress maker has their own size chart, check the website for the dress manufacturer. My friend who weras a sixe 10-12 had to order a size 18 bm dress for my wedding. The dresses ran very small when we tried them on in the store.

Re: Size Chart?
Okay, Thanks! I checked, the dress is made by Alexia. Now what measurement do I go by, or do I take an average? I think if I tell her the chart says 12 she is going to flip out. Maybe I should just have her come for a visit and try it on to be sure.? I just don't want any screwups!

Re: Size Chart?
the salons order the size based on the largest meausrement. so if a 32 waist is an 8 but a 40 bust is a 10, they will order the 10.
Depending on the dress, i would really go with ordering the correct size. better to be safe then sorry. like someone said above her size 10/12 friend needed to order an 18.

Re: Size Chart?
You should definitely go by her largest measurement. My measurements are smaller than that and every bridal gown I ordered was either a 8 or 10 (and once a 12). (I am normally a 6ish in regular close.) Sometimes they fit and sometimes too big. You rather error on the side of too big...it is pretty easy to take a dress in.
Edited to say: My SIL's waist and hips but her in a 10/12 but had to order a much larger size (I think a 16 or 18) for her chest. She was in between two sizes and they went for the smaller one and the top was a little tight on her. Her seamstress had to work this one out for her and it was a pain for her.

Re: Size Chart?
I can tell you when we were looking at BM dresses my MOH is a size 0 and they measured her and told her she would need a 6 maybe an 8 in some companies. I thought she was going to croak... it was rather funny to see her face - she just kept saying - that can't be right

Re: Size Chart?
Seriously, Tell your friend that the size charts make no sense. I usually wear a size 4 in clothes and have ordered bridesmaide dresses in a size 10. The sizes seriously don't matter. She will have the dress altered to fit her no matter what size it says. You can always make a dress smaller. You can't make a small dress bigger!

Re: Size Chart?
The problem with dresses, is that there is no universal size, that is why noone is the same size in every brand. I thought my friend was going to flip becasue she had to pay 15 extra for a plus dress, and she is nowhere near plus size!!!

Re: Size Chart?
definitely go with the biggest measurement, so if she needs a 12 to fit her hips, but only an 8 for her waist, get the 12 and have it altered. also you said the wedding is a year away? maybe you could wait a bit longer to see if she loses weight and then order the dress? just a thought.

Re: Size Chart?
I wish I could wait, but the woman at the store said that the tops get discontinued every month. So to be safe, we should order asap. I am just going to have to break the bad news to her. I am going to try on the dress myself and see. We are the same measurements except for bust. Thanks everyone for your helpful advice!
