I hate to say it, but I am not looking forward to dress shopping at all because of they whole try-on procedure - and I want to be VERY excited about shopping. I wear a larger size and am very worried about going to a store and them not having any samples I can try on. Any advice?
Thanks.

Re: + Size Dress Shopping
Go to RK Bridal in Manhattan - www.rkbridal.com. Ask for Gilda (she is there every day except for Thursdays). She is GREAT. They have a huge selection of dresses in all sizes including lots and lots of plus sizes. I had the exact same fear, and absolutely dreaded going dress shopping, but going to RK and working with her made me so much more relaxed. I ended up finding my dress that day! Trust me - it's not as bad as you think it will be! Good luck!

Paradise Bridal in Patchogue has a great selection of Plus Sizes... Bridal Plaza in Baldwin wasn't too bad either!!
Don't worry- you'll find something! I am SOOOO picky and it only took me three shopping trips!! Good luck!

Re: + Size Dress Shopping
Hi there
I too am a plus sized bride and was worried about this. I went to 6 different salons and when all was said and done I tried on over 30 different dresses in various PLUS sizes. Some were too small -- some were too big, and some fit just right. But in all of them I was able to get a very good look at how the dress would fit and look ON ME!
I started a thread just for plus size brides, go through it and you will see all of our recommendations for where we looked and where we were successful.
Don't worry -- the dresses are out there for us and they aren't as hard to find as you think.
I felt the exact same way before I went shopping. I was very pleasantly surprised with the selection of sizes. They have a variety of sample dress sizes. Don't worry about that

Esor, Adrienne's all the way- in Islip. They're located on main Street and you HAVE to have an appointment before you go or they won't help you. They had a room of dresses for you to try on- I went to several places and hated going to them b/c I didn't fit in the dresses but I ended up finding my dress at Adrienne's and that's where I got it from. Good luck!

Re: + Size Dress Shopping
Definetly try Gerri from Lillettes - They have so many to try on in larger sizes....
Tell Gerru Christine sent you - I went - she was great and she really knew what would be flattering on even if you didnt...

Re: + Size Dress Shopping
I hate trying on gowns too...In normal clothes Im a 12/14...but all the samples gowns i have come across are 8- 10 (average for some I guess)...and even worse is that for bridal gowns, the sizes are different so im actually more like a size 16 in dresses- I had a great self confidence before but not so much after gown shopping.
Let me just say that when I do try a size 16 gown, i feel very pretty...its when the size 8 gowns are hanging open in the back cause i cant zipper it that I feel down about my size. So I hope you get to try on gowns as close to your size as possible so you can start to feel like a beautiful bride.

what you have to prepare for is getting naked in front of people and stumbling around trying to get a dress of your head with some stranger helping you!!!
