Sizzix users

OK who can help me? I have started using my Sizzix and have no problems with the letters but am noticing that with the various shapes I am having trouble with the dotted line areas--is there a trick to cutting this so that you get rid of the little pieces? I can't seem to get it to look right
Any help would be great

the dotted lines are there so if you want to do paper piecing you know where the lines for the different pieces go.

like the lines on this pumpkin...you could cut 2 pumpkins of different colors...cut along the line on one then glue those pieces onto the first one. Its give the item dimention

Ok so I get that BUT doesn't it look weird with the dotted line? or is it just me-- which could be possible as I am too anal for my own good
