Ski Lodge Type Venue?

Ski Lodge Type Venue?

I've only been engaged 48 hours and I'm already stressing about finding a location! My fiancee and I are looking to get married in Winter 2009 and looking for something that has a lodge-type feel. So far, the only thing that comes close is the Old Field Club. Does anyone have any reocmmendations as to where else we could look? Am looking for a place to accommodate ~150 ppl. Any advice would be of help. Thanks so much for your input!

We thought the Riviera in Massapequa had that type of feel.

I'm getting married at the old field club and their winter weddings are gorgeous! Another place you might want to check out is Lands End. It's full of deep mahogonies and you'll have the entire place to yourself. It's very intimate and cozy.

I would try the Riviera. I think it would have that feel.

i was just going to suggest OFC. all the beautiful hardwood and the open ceiling w/ the rafters--perfect for the ski lodge vibe

We had our reception at the Estate at East Wind. When we looked at it, we felt it had a very cozy feel to it. They had it decorated so beautifully for the holidays.

I thought Stewart Manor Country Club had that lodge feel to it...
We went to 2 weddings there, and LOVED it
we're going on Sunday to get a quote

I have other advice -- RELAX! I drove myself crazy when I first got engaged, we were planning a 2009 wedding as well, and we were so stressed out, a week later and too many reception halls later, we took a break, went out to dinner and said we weren't gonna plan for a week. It was the best thing we did, after a week we came back to it on our own terms and figured out what we wanted with less pressure. If you stress yourself out you will end up picking things that you later won't like because you're under all this pressure. So take a few days to enjoy your engagement because I find that it's the happiest time ever when you don't get all crazy about it. (You're entitled to 48 hours of sheer bliss before the lunacy sets in).

About the RH, we wound up planning a 2010 wedding because we're in no rush and the stress was getting to me, and we booked Land's End... but we were previously planning a winter wedding and the promotions they offer are really great for winter. I would have booked there in winter because of how quaint the inside is, to me I find it very warm, they have fireplaces all around, and you still get the view of being out on the water. They'll give you some great deals, especially for it being so soon. Good luck with wherever you pick!

ETA to second the Riviera suggestion, my cousin is getting married there and it definitely has the feel you're looking for, and you can get a good deal there as well.

The Fox Hollow's winter garden pavilion is BEAUTIFUL. Tall glass ceilings, stacked stone walls, big garden in the back with a waterfall ... amazing and kinda the look you want.

I agree that winter garden pavillion at Fox Hollow would be beautiful in the winter!!

Do you have to have the wedding on LI? There is a place upstate a little called Emerson Lodge and Hotel and Spa and they do weddings. I think there may be a few other places in the catskills that have the look you want.

Another great place upstate is Onteora Mountain House. It's in the catskills and is awesome from what I have seen on their website. I really wanted to have my wedding there until I saw their prices. But, if you've got money, it's probably just what you are looking for.
