For the last six months, I have had a problem with break outs on my forehead...my forehead is covered in whiteheads. My forehead tends to be oily, so I have been making a point on blotting thru out the day, I do not wear any moisturizer on my forehead, and only pressed powder for 'foundation'. I have tried all kinds of facial washes, benzoil peroxide, salicic acid...nothing works...what can I do?
I am thinking of giving in and buying Proactiv, but I heard that stops after awhile and if I need to do it, maybe I should wait until a month before the wedding..any advice?

I kinda had same problem with pores in that area..I got a scrub...H has Proactive stuff and its pretty good.
The powder can be making it worse. Don;t use any make up there.

It is freaking disgusting! I never had this before even when I was a teenager!!
I did buy the Proactive mask that everyone talks about to use as a spot treatment and it does notthing for me.
I am not going to use any powder, and see if that helps.
As for the dermotologist...I was trying to avoid that simply because I dont have the time to waste two hours in the doctors office, but I may have to give in and go.

If you need a rec. I go to Island Dermatology in Massapequa- I'm literally in and out in 20 minutes!

Go to a derm but I think glycolic peels solve everything, Or they can give you the cortizone shots and that really helps

I've had cystic acne all of my life and have been going to dermatologists since I was 13. Been on Accutane many different times in my life. Believe it or not the thing that has been working for me is the Waldbaum's store brand acne wash. It looks exactly the same as Neutrogrena but it's not. Also Johnson & Johnson has a gentle acne wash that works great too.

I think the proactive will be perfect for you , honestly... I used it for years and it continued to work, you just have to make sure it stays part of your skinc are routine. DOn't wait til a month before the wedding to start it though cause it will take a couple of weeks for your skint o rebalance... you'll see your acne my get a little worse befor eit gets better as the stuff just below the surface starts to get drawn out.
Now I just use a salicylic acid toner twice a day, a triclosan wash int he shower in the morning and twice a week, I exfoliate with a benzoyl peroxide wash/mild scrub... often, one product with one ingredient isn't enough, you need to kill the bateria and strip away dead skin cells and oil as well. That's why the proactiv is nice, because it sets up those ingredients all in a kit for you and makes it easy.
My derm also recommended that I use an anti aging cream with a retinol in it at night because my skin is super sensitive to Rx things like REtin-A and Tazorac... so it's a much milder form of a similar ingredient over the counter.
HTH, good luck!

proactiv is the worst, are you sure you're not drying your forehead out with all the over the counter treatments?
sometimes moisturizing with an oil-free moisturizer after using a gentle toner (witch hazel or diluted apple cider vinegar) is the key to ending breakouts...

Go to the dermotologist and have them write you a prescription for antibiotics - that usually works for me when I have a breakout.

I wouldn't try Proactibe this close to the wedding. I used ot before and it dried out my skin so badly. I had dime lil red dry dots all over my face
I'm with the girls who say try the dermatologist!
Good luck!
