Skin care question

Good Day Ladies,

I went to the dermatogist on monday and he prescribed me Minocycline. Has anyone ever been on this before and if so did it work for you?

My face has been breaking out alot and I fear my skin would look horrible on my big day. I had alittle side affects, nothing to serious.

worked wonders for me, but I had side effects (major stomach cramps)

I went off it after I was done with my dose and my skin was fine, i switched to all topical creams

eta; i was a bank teller, and i broke out badly on my chin line from counting money and touching my face, so i think my skin cleared up a lot bc im not a teller any more.

Minocycline is an antibiotic...those are good to clear you up quickly but it's best not to be dependent on them; just be sure it doesn't conflict with your pill--if you are on one. Good luck!

I've been having the same problem (in the chin area). I started using Murad ...which I got from Sephora. So far..so good. they say you see results in 4 weeks...I'm on week 3. They also have pills....

I know its and antibiotic, i am not sure how long I have to stay on it for. I go back next month for a check up. I am not on the pill anymore. Thanks for the info.

You'll probably see good things in about a month. Also (just my opinion) use a topical....you'll be happy you did! Like Differin or something. Been there with the skin thing.....LOL

Proactiv! Proactiv!! Proactiv!!!

Seriously, it works wonders. Also, if you are on the pill, you may want to ask your gyno what the hormone components are. My gyno and I determined that the pill I had been on for years had higher levels of testosterone in it. I switched my pills and ta-dah!!

Honestly I was on this for months and months (probably close to a year) and it did nothing for me.

I went back on birth control pills and my skin cleared up!

I was on that for a while. It completely does the trick, no worries there. Just screwed up my cycle but I was on the pill.

OMG....really? I have never used it consistently enough to either see results or overdo it. I have been using Clean and Clear wash and toner and it has been working really well. It contains Salicylic acid. And my skin used to be bad...I was on Accutane 4 years ago.

Re: Skin care question

Proactive did not work for me as well! However, my derm gave me differin gel & duac gel, works PERFECT! Took a month or 2 to really clear up and along with some mild BC pills I am a happy camper now! Only thing is I have a scar from months ago on my cheek and I am working on treatments for that....GOOD LUCK i know that HELL.....
