Skin Care Question RP from 06

I went to the dermatogist on monday and he prescribed me Minocycline. Has anyone ever been on this before and if so did it work for you?

My face has been breaking out alot and I fear my skin would look horrible on my big day. I had alittle side affects, nothing to serious.

I have acutally tried that one before and I don't feel it worked for me at all. I stopped using it. I guess try it and see, everyone's skin is different.

I've never been on it, but I know it's an antibiotic that helps kill acne bacteria and has anti-inflammatory properties. Supposedly it's safer than ibuprofen and penicillin. What kind of side effects? Have you spoken to your doctor about them?

Hm, I have heard of stomach cramps being a side effect, but I would bring it up to you doctor at the next visit anyway, just in case.

i changed make up and moisturizer and cleanser and it's made the biggest difference..unfortunately, i'm kind of fair skinned, so the progress seems slower to others because the place where pimples were stay pink/red longer than most.

i was afraid that any meds. would hurt my skin or make me sensitive to the sun.

I was on that for like 6 months in college and it really did clear up my skin. I hada few stomach side effects for the first week, but then I got used to it.

I would suggest either eating yogurt or getting acidophilus tablets at a drug store to prevent some of those side effects.

i was on mino for a while...over a year.

it helped clear about 20% of what i was getting....which turned out to not be worth it.

it also lessed the effectiveness of my BCP's so be careful with that

another thing is that if you are prone to YI's , this may make them worse...there is another pill that i took to counter act the chances of getting those types of infections- the dermotologist that prescribed me the mino also prescribed me this other pill too - so i never got one

you should also be using a topical along with the mino
