SKIN HELP PLEASE!

I am getting married in about 7 weeks. i have had breakout prone skin pretty much since i was a teenager. my skin is very sensitive. i am looking for options for what i can do to clear it up before my wedding. i have only had a facial one time in my life but they didnt do any kind of extractions or anything like that. i would go to my derm but i have no insurance right now. over the counter meds generally do not work for me. any suggestions??

I have the same problem.. I have had breakout my whole life...

I'm going for facials every two months... I think it's great. I loved massage envy and also i heard good things about laser plus.. that they do extractions.

Also.. i started proactiv and I really like it!

You should start that asap so you skin gets used to it and doesnt dry out close to the wedding.
Start every other day and then work up to twice daily

Also.. I find tanning works.. not so healthy but it does dry out skin

Re: SKIN HELP PLEASE!

there are a few options you can try

-low hormone birth control pills

-proactive is great but take caution because if you stop using it there is a big chance that you acne will come back (maybe even worse)

-try black soap, many pharmacies and beauty supply stores carry it. it works wonders. any brand should be fine.

I maintain a clear complexion w/ clearasil acne daily face wash - I love it, I use it morning and night. I used to break out every now and then but now I never do. Also, DEF get a facial and sooner rather than later since it can leave your face a little red for a few days. When I get them done they literally clear out allll of your pores. You look like cr@p when you leave but like a week later your skin is flawless!

In my opinion I wouldn't start a hormone pill with only 7 weeks to go. I would probably ask a dermatologist if a low dose antibiotic would be good. They also have lasers for acne that kill the bacteria which might be good too.

I had issues too...BC pill did help but then the dr switched the pill and now no good again. I used to use Cetaphil and it worked great but now that the warmer weather is coming, not as good for me. I am using Neutrogena daily face wash. My friend works for a derm and she told me that it has sacilyic (spelling?) acid which treats the acne instead of just cleansing.

If you use ProActiv religiously, you'll be fine. Order it and use the entire set regularly. When i actually do the daily regimen, my skin looks amazing.

Its too bad you cant go to a derm bc I use to have amazing skin and then all of a sudden in my 20's my skin kept breaking out...I finally went to the derm and she put me on a oral antibiotic and a cream....it has done wonders. I have stopped the antibiotic but will use it if i happen to get a breakout.

If your going to spend the money on facials I would suggest just going to a derm paying the initial fee (most places will be in the $75-125 range) and asking for them to give you a generic form of whatever they prescribe (I know stop & shop gives free prescriptions for generic medications)

Take a women's multivitamin (Bluebonnet or Nature Made brands) religiously and drink a ton of water. Also if you normally wear makeup, try to skip it except for special occasions until the wedding.

If you start having breakouts, you can get over the counter hydrocortisone to clear it up quickly.

It sounds like we have similar skin types and I've had some luck with bareMinerals Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin but it's still refreshing and it evens out the skin tone. Try a salicylic acid spot treatment for your breakouts. Good luck!

THIS! oddly enough the derm has me on a diuretic and it's really been working!!!!!! honestly it's amazing how it just totally cleared up my acne!!! I pee like crazy, but it's totally worth it!

I have had the same problem, but i broke down and went to the dermatologist and my skin is about 95% better!. 2 things that you can get over the counter that i am using is Cetaphil cleanser to clean your face morning and night. it is a dermotologist recomended soapless face wash.
the moistureizer she has me using is Cerve.

But i am on 2 topical medications that i am sure doing most of the work. 7 weeks is still long enough for your face to clear.
I have insurance and it still cost me $200 in meds but a clear face on my wedding day is worth it!

I also never had skin problems until about a year ago. Nothing I did worked, so I went to a derm. Turns out its a bacterial infection that only antibiotics can clear up.

She has me using Cetaphil on top of that 2x a day, and also using Eucerin face cream with SPF 15. SO far my skin is better. Proactiv did not work for me at all!
