slacker bride

slacker bride

ok....it is 7 days 'till my California reception....and i feel bad, I have just done the absolute minnimum. I put so much more effort into my LI wedding, which had about 40 guests...we have 110 people coming next week. I thought we were set at 100 and people keep rsvp'ing.
I've really been lazy with my diet too...i have to buckle down in the next week...I'm worried my dress will be tight.
Ok..gonna go get my nails done.

Re: slacker bride

it's crazy all of my northern California vendors are so so so laid back.
I need a 'laid back' emote-icon!
Like you email yup....that's the contract. The good thing is we are having it cocktail style, and I have to pay by the platter not the person, which has saved on me freaking about the headcount. I just decided everyone who didn't rsvp was a no.
When you compare this to the total meltdown I had in July it's funny.
I really do hope everything is ok....I micromanaged the wedding in July and a few things still went wrong.
Anyway, if anyone is still reading, I am doing the decorations myself, all next week, so if you want to look at the venue and suggest anything it's

You will get it all done don't worry. I know what you mean about the trying to slim down-I didn't have much motivation but the last week I just ate salads with chicken and balsamic vinegar and I slimmed down just enough to fit comfortably in my dress. It will all come together don't worry! I lived and worked in California and the laid-back attitude drove me up a wall.

Thank you!!!
Unless I get any crazy ideas about handfasting we are not having a ceremony.
I also have met about 10 percent of the people...there are literally 5 people out of 110 from my side...so it will be a crash course in hubby friends and family. I would say 75% are former co-workers.
I got kinda crazed before the Montauk wedding, so I am going to try to be the most laid back Northern Cali style bride ever! We are doing platters of informal food and cupcakes, I hope it is fancy enough, we have some SF celebrities attending so I am a little self-conscious.
( We actually got married in Vegas in april, so technically it's my third wedding )
and hopefully my last!

Re: slacker bride

hey! I'm having 2 weddings also! Well, I'm having 2 receptions actually (not 'weddings'). The one I'm having here on the Island is the only one I'm focusing on, however. My MIL is doing everything for the other one in Colorado. Woo hoo!! I'd NEVER be capable of planning two affairs.

Good luck with the 2nd wedding. I'm sure everything will be great.

That's exciting...how far apart are they?
Are you going to wear the same dress?

I'm pretty sure that's it's gonna be 3 weeks after the original. She wanted to do it as close as they could to the actual wedding. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I'm gonna wear my Wedding Dress again. I REALLY REALLY want to!! But I dunno if that's overdoing it. I'm still not sure how 'fancy' this 2nd reception is gonna be. Colorado is different than New York (obviously. lol) so I don't know if it's just gonna be like a small dinner party or an actual reception in a hall and such. I'm really excited tho either way. Not only do we get to celebrate twice, but we also get 2 sets of gifts. haha. That helps!

How much time do you have between your weddings? Your second one in California is bigger, you said, right? So you probably definitely are gonna wear the wedding dress twice. That is SO fun!

Re: slacker bride

actually this is a new dress(and a nicer quality one to be honest).....I had a short inexpensive one for LI, the whole reception was outdoors in July. It was fun wearing short though, for anyone considering it, you will still feel bride-ey if you wear a veil.
It was very tricky finding short though, even though they have been in the magazines.
I say if you can swing it, the second reception is a fun chance to try a different style dress, if you can find an inexpensive one. But if you love your dress wear that!
Good luck!

Good luck to you!!! I can't imagine planning two weddings, one is enough for me. I'm sure afterwards I'm going to want to do it again though.

Have fun!!!!

oh no - i am absolutely IN LOVE with my dress. lol. If I can get away with wearing it twice, I will definitely take advantage. I gotta find out tho how fancy the second reception will be, cause my dress is one of those big traditional ones. If it's more like a nice dinner, then I definitely won't wear a wedding dress at all. Probably just a regular pretty white dress.
